LAST MONTH: Last month was business as usual plus December craziness. All that being said, MUSREV saw a decent amount of traffic. One feature that seemed to draw quite a bit of interest was the video: "Ebony and Ivy League", a 30 sec. short by Lucas. Check: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/promotion/index.html

IMPORTANT!: HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2009 is looking to be a landmark year for yours truly (Me :D). That being said, I strongly hope that it will be a landmark year for the revolution as well. So. What I propose is a slight change of attitude. As the new website takes form, it would be nice if the focus shifted more to the positive - enjoying/supporting/creating NEW/great music. We (TheMusicalRevolution) are the ones who can make this happen. Thanks for sharing with us - please continue to do so :D

NEWS: The Recording Industry stateside has decided to forsake their plan of sue first and ask questions later. They have decided to take the high road and coerce ISPs to rat us out instead :S.. No more Warner Music videos on YouTube. Is that bad news?.. In a race to see who can become irrevelant first, Myspace has ditched "Project Playlist" (playlist sharing application) due to pressure from the RIAA - Facebook to follow... Chris Anderson wrote a book outlining how the music industry could benefit from today's technology and.. now a bunch of negative nelly blowhards are punching holes in his optimism and gloating like pissed off little spoiled brats who aren't getting their own way.. boo hoo...

PROPAGANDA: Wanna sell your used guitars for $100,000? Just smash 'em up, duct tape 'em, sell out music, then shoot yourself.. Too late, Kurt Cobain beat you to it (OH NO HE DIDN'T! :O)... Eminem is going to get out of releasing his next album "Relapse" me thinks. The second single is now all over the internet and it ain't even finished yet! I say he just throws a snare down and some freestyles, skips the promo BS and goes straight to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame already ;)..A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Monthly Newsletter So. This is hI-larious! 2008: Coldplay release a song entitled, "Viva la Vida". The indy band, The Creaking Boards immediately accuse them of ripping off their song, "The Songs I Didn't Write." Then Joe Satriani accuses Chris Martin's crew of ripping off his 2004 song, "If I Could Fly." But it turns out that they all could be ripping off music from The Legend of Zelda??? Who knows? And. Metallica is Guitar Hero bound! Think that I just may download that game :O..
Love,
TheMusicalRevolution ;)

NEWS: A Harvard Law Prof is taking on the RIAA, stating that suing downloaders is unconstitutional. I think the dude's name is Superman :D?.. Looks like Berklee will be setting up shop in Valencia, Spain. I wonder if Jack Black will be teaching at the new school of rock... The latest Chinese censorship news: G'nR is the latest to piss of officials, which leads me to ask, when did China join in the American Propeganda Machine?.. And.. Bono has launched (RED)WIRE . For a fiver a month, you can get music from all of your fave superstars :S http://www.redwire.com/ Proceeds go to African AIDS/Malaria relief.

PROPAGANDA: I'm wondering if I should be chatting up Kanye or not. Is dood a musician or a tabloid stooge?A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Monthly Newsletter Lately I think the latter; assaulting paparazzi - denouncing music award shows; second verse same as the first!.. LAST MONTH: The big draw, hitswise, last month was an interview done by fellow revolutionary, Lydia. It just so turns out that she interviewed the very artists we featured the previous month and in the Oct. newsletter, The Hometown Hecklers. To read the interview and find out why it drew over 1000 hits one day check:
http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/fellow_revolutionaries/index.html
You'll laugh, cry, wonder what the fuss is about??? LOL!

IMPORTANT!: So it turns out that I'm finally recording that album of tracks that I always fancied I'd record. It's a collection of my favorite compositions from the last 15 years -- all inspired and all still holding great meaning to me. I've rewritten, preproduced, demoed, am tracking, producing, engineering and publishing everything myself. The only job that I will outsource is the mastering. All this said, it turns out that I'm not as good as I thought I was. It turns out that creating music IS 90% ego. I'm still excited to finish and show what I've accomplished to the world but I'm just not as sure as I once was... :S

NEWS: Last month, the UN honoured Jay-Z for his philanthropic efforts. As a plus, Ban Ki-moon also gave the rap mogul his nod for baggin' tha B... Simple Plan have released the single, "Save You" in support of cancer research and a flailing career... In an EXTREMELY tragic case of "be careful what you wish for", Jennifer Hudson lost her mother, brother and nephew in October. Is fame worth the price? And.. The Beatles come to Rock Band with their own brand and own songs. Alright kiddies.. playtime's.. just about to start?..

PROPAGANDA: Man! These jokes write themselves! The Jonas Brothers are about to star in a film titled, "Walter the Farting Dog".A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Monthly Newsletter Careful boys. Don't overextend yourselves... After 14 years of agony filled waiting, "Chinese Democracy" is set to hit store shelves! Chinese what?.. Jermaine Jackson gave us the scoop folks! The Jackson 5 PLUS Randy PLUS Janet will re-unite!!! Big Tour! Big Music! Big Money! But wait.. Nobody thought to ask Michael - LOL!.. P.S. Michael Jackson turned down the reunion AGAIN! AND. Led Zepplin aren't going anywhere without Robert Plant either. Bagels just don't taste that good without cream cheese :D.. BOO! Happy Halloween!

NEWS: Once every election cycle, Rage Against the Machine reunite, do a tour and get shut down by the Po-lice.. ahh tradition... See Jack (White) write Bond theme. See Coke use it in their ad campaign. See Jack get $. See Jack bitch about the ad. See Jack give the $ back.. JK... NYC has commissioned Philip Glass to write an operatic tribute to Walt Disney. Wouldn't it have been funny if Beethoven would have composed a symphony in memory of Jim Henson?.. Feist's latest Canadian tour will be one for the people. All proceeds from her merch will go to charity. And.. I got nothin'. That's pretty cool...

PROPAGANDA: Going once.. Going twice.. SOLD! The Stone's famous lips logo has been auctioned off to the highest bidder. Keith's next... LAST MONTH: It is quite a funny thing. Last month, we finally got back to padding our list of establishments that support independent music with a list of 4 venues in Medicine Hat, Alberta. For lists in 11 Canadian centers, check: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/friendly_establishments/index.html
While this doesn't seem all that hIlarious, the fact that over 1000 people checked in on the day we published them is... kinda funny (weird?) I guess we gotta keep on keeping on.

IMPORTANT!: HEY! I don't need Terry McBride, Bob Lefsetz, Chris Taylor, Brian Hetherman and the presidents from Universal, Sony BMG, EMI, Maple Music (Canada) to agree with me to believe in myself. All I need is my big FAT HEAD - LOL!!! But. Maybe others do. So... prepare to witness the best damn news ever for anyone who ever wanted to make a living making music:
http://www.thenewindie.com
Download the instruction manual for free. You too can be a ROCK STAR (if you wanna be old and obsolete). Or you can find out how by checking in.

NEWS: This just in --> technology plus music makes for GOOD business. Apparently, it takes a video game to prove that to people (see: Guitar Hero):S... Bluesman Von Johin has played Nashville dives his whole life and still he hasn't got his BIG break. But his Second Live avatar has - just got signed to a worldwide recording contract.. for real... The man who helped people who couldn't sing sound in perfect tune has just created software that can disect a chord from an original recording and rearrange it. Peter Neubäcker may just be a genius or a freakin' pirate!.. China has gone all gestapo on iTunes. The popular music site was shut down for providing the new album, "Songs for Tibet" for download. Man, they just made sure that every man, woman and child in China will want to find out what the fuss is about :S

PROPAGANDA: Mick Jackson actually asked his fans what songs they wanted on his latest "hits" collection. 'Cause he's a "we" not "me" person. The album, "King of Pop" came out August 25th... And Mary J makes out like a bandit. She steals her latest hit/productA TheMusicalRevolution.Com Monthly Newsletter commercial and will probably settle out of court for a used bra and a sloppy kiss... Some blogger guy has been arrested for leaking new Guns 'n Roses tracks. Wow, and I thought that my 15 minutes were anticlimactic... Guess what? Rihanna is b-roKe! Hmnnnn... I guess used souls aren't worth what they once were...

LAST MONTH: July was a 'lyrical' month. I, Mattyy, have been working on a couple of albums and the words are all but finished so I decided to preview here. Plus, our friend and resident genius, Lucas, submitted a palindrome that he's been working on: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/freestylelyricspoetry/index.html
Please keep the works coming all. Submit to: weblog@themusicalrevolution.com

IMPORTANT!: The major labels have been cheating the MySpace music charts since the outset using software designed to boost their artist's play counts. Recently that software has been made available to independent artists and now there's a debate on whether it is ok or not. My opinion is that major label music is mostly irrelevant anyway and needs all the help it can get. We, however, need to, "keep it real." Independents that use this technology are fake and hurting the credibility of the rest of us just trying to create decent music. I BLAME YOU! LOL!! But my opinion is a drop in the sea. What do yoU think? That changes everything.

NEWS: Workers at La Scala (famous Italian opera house) have gone on strike aGain sparking patrons to.. wait and still not support the local troupe down the street... The sixth chord of John Cage's 'As Slow As Possible' was played on a church organ in Germany. The piece is expected to end in 2640 -- that's one way to sidestep the critics... Pandora for iPhone is getting decent reviews -- where available... Oppenheimer Park, Vancouver workers are looking for donations for their program that gives homeless people access to musical instruments. Next in their concert series.. 'La Boheme'. Ba-dap daP!

PROPAGANDA: Lindsay Lohan. Samantha Ronson.. Shame shame shame. When does sexual preference stop being a publicity stunt?.. A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Monthly NewsletterKylie Minogue has just received the Order of the British Empire?? WoW! When real life BECOMES an Australian soap opera!.. And it's official. Guitar Hero has just scored JIMI HENDRIX. Top that Rock Band! Yeah, we just cashed in the "dead hero" card... Chris Brown has scored a massive UK hit with the song, 'Forever'. Fans. It's a chewing gum commercial! *Maniacal laughter* L..M..A..O...

EDITORIAL: WoW :S And the world ticks on as politically correct and banale as ever. You know shit's stale when the biggest news of the month is some aging pop star and her divorce. CHECK THIS!: Yeah, so last month we were kinda... uhh... absent. Turns out Mattyy was in the studio like 28.5 hours a day and wasn't able to devote any time to us....... jerkaSs! But. we're back this month stronger than ever and with a whole new format designed to drive more traffic HERE and get us together more. :'( Seems like we never eat at the same table these days... LOL!

EDITORIAL: Mattyy: A week or so ago, I created a montage of two of a (not to be mentioned) country diva's number one hits. I found out that they had the exact same hooks. And. Fans bought them TWICE. So, Popstar hopefuls - find yourself a catchy hook and record it over and over again - that's the secreT! ;)

NEWS: Hey! The Discovery Channel is going to stick Tommy Lee and Ludacris on an environmentally friendly bus for ten days. All proceeds go to resurrecting reality TV... This past month's American Idol Give Back Charity Show only raised $60 million for children's charities/Katrina relief. Boo-urNs. We raised $600 Canadian for victims of the fire - WoooHHH!.. Eminem is making his big comeback at Nelson Mandela's 90'th birthday party :S WoW! Lawn bowling, cholesterol free cake and "...and this bag of this weed it gives me the shit needed to be the most meanest MC..." AND. Are Radiohead really doing Conan O'Brien from their couches in England to keep the planet "greener" OR did last night's party just get too "green" and now they're too effin' lazy to get on a damn plane? S'Just JokeS!

GOSSIP: BAM! Mariah has more #1s than Elvis. BAM BAM!! Madonna has more top 10s than Elvis. BAM BAM BAM!!! I'm less dead than Elvis - WOAH!.. Check this. EDITORIAL:

'Cherry Chocolate Rain' by Tay Zonday: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2x2W12A8Qow

As the YouTube hit, 'Chocolate Rain' approaches 15 Million views, there's another Tay Zonday track that is racing toward 4 million itself. The video and song 'Cherry Chocolate Rain' may resemble the original but low and behold, it's just another soda pop advert :S This corpratization of yet another social/cultural phenomenon has stirred up shit back here in the ranks of TheMusicalRevolution.

My boy, feat. rants:

"Now it doesn't matter what he got paid, Tay Zonday will always be a one hit wonder for Chocolate Rain. The worst thing is that he used a song that was about racism towards Blacks in America and the world, as cryptic as it may be, and changed it to suit the Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages Corporation's message which perpetuated negative stereotypes of Blacks in the media. The suitcase full of money; treating women like objects; frivolous African elephant tusks and fur. He chose to do this instead of presenting a positive and inspiring example of a successful Black man in America. He could have shown that the nouveau rich can give back to the community and treat women with respect. He had the option and chose not to take it, and that will disqualify any serious song that he ever tries to make in the future. I hope that he realizes that the reason he will have to write another song about racism in America is because he is enforcing and propagating negative stereotypes of blacks for the black community to strive towards. Black America doesn't need the archetypal "Man" to get them down - Now they have Tay Zonday to do it for them.

feat.

You go brother!
Now.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. YAHOO JOINS FORCES WITH RHAPSODY: The Good = Rhapsody at Yahoo Unlimited prices (for a while ;). The Bad = Only 2 major players now (Rhapsody and Napster). The Ugly = Who uses these services anyway? LOL!

2. YOUNG SUDANESE WAR VET NOW A RAPPER: At the age of 13, Emmanuel Jal was a survivor of 2 wars. Now at the age of 26, He's trying to survive the music industry. His second album, 'Warchild' is due out on May 13 in the U.S. Best of luck :D

3. FERGIE SUPPORTS AIDS EDUCATION: As the face of MAC's new Viva Glam campaign, the superstar will be pimping 'Lipglass', but this is a win/win situation with all of the profits going to the cause!

4. U2 SINGER RAISES $43M FOR AIDS RELIEF: Only Bono can turn an innocent art auction into a massive charity event. The UN are the beneficiary of the "beautiful" one's latest "not so" random act of kindness.

5. LATEST KRS-ONE PROJECT TO STOP THE VIOLENCE: The 'Stop The Violence Movement' is back and this time the hip hop veteran has company. The Game, Chamillionaire, Nelly and David Banner are all slated to contribute to KRS' latest album/videos.

6. PETE WENTZ FOR THE KIDS: The non-for-profit organization, Invisible Children, hopes to raise awareness of the struggles children displaced by the war in Uganda face. The Fall Out Boy bassist wants you to know that.

7. DO YOU CARE?: WoooOOOOHHHHH! Damon Alburn and Lilly Allen almost worked together. Actually, it sounds like she listened to a bunch of his musical ideas and then left. Expect the new album by Allen to sound a lot like Gorillaz - LOL!.. Woah is me! Say it ain't so.. The Spice Girls world tour ended prematurely. He says that poor ticket sales are to blame. She says that the whole thing was too successful and becoming a burden. I say.. YiPee!!. And the winner of 5 Grammies is.. absent. The Oscars were gainfully enjoyed by my mother-in-law and my nephew's pet fish, Panko. Irrevelance has never been so popular ;).. WoW! The Game finally made it to jail. He didn't pass go, he didn't collect 200 pounds and he didn't really warrant writing about this month but thankfully, musical trash news was a little light this month - Life is GREAT!

Until next month,

EDITORIAL:

If you don't know how I feel about awards shows, here's a refresher, "How far does it go until the Grammy's don't matter at all? Is it there already? It's almost like watching a live wire act where the performer is on a 3 foot wide wire, 2 feet from the ground with her/his manager, agent, lawyer and entire promotions company holding his/her hand. WHO CARES?" MN (ed. 18, Mar/06) - http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/monthly_newsletters/index.html

So, you can imagine that the farce that the current awards show season is becoming doesn't bother me at all.

Certain shows are expendable while others go on without a hitch. Certain stars stand up and be counted, "for the writers", at one show then creep in the next. The big shows have all of this speculation around them, all the time creating this pseudo-buzz. O....K!!!

Here's my (not so bold) prediction: The Gramaphones and the Academy Awards will go on WITHOUT A HITCH! AND. More idiots will watch them because they heard sooo much about them in the news. And the rest of us will just smile and read a book because it's all sooo transparent these days in the fakeR world of corporate entertainment.

So, there it is. My yearly "Award Show" rant. I know - silly isn't it. We got it (like) 20 years ago! But, here's where I promise a change.

Next year, I'ma gonna stage my own Music Awards Show -- to coincide with the Grammys too ;) The nominees will be actually picked by you, the people. The winners will be as well. And, the prizes will be 'actual legitimacy' - something that of all these corporate stars must be craving by now. YEAH! Do you feel that? LOL!

Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. RADIOHEAD CHART AT #1 - GIVE FREE SHOW: The band's new album, "In Rainbows" hit the top of the U.K. charts in this past month. To celebrate, London got a surprise free show. *Evil laugh* It's all happening just as I predicted - MN 40: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/monthly_newsletters/index.html

2. MADONNA VISITS MUMBAI SLUMS: Maybe the self proclaimed material girl just wants to see how the other half(?) lives? Maybe she isn't so material after all? Either way, I really hope her children take a few lessons away from India - for their/our sakes ;S

3. EMI U.K. DOWNSIZES: It is always sad when 2,000 people lose their jobs. But, when you work for the devil... ;)!

4. DO YOU CARE?: Well, let's get the obvious NOIZE outta the way. Ok OK! Britney's FREakIn' MELTED, Amy's a drunken ho and I doubt that we'll ever find out what happened to poor Heath Ledger - Damn FDA! All that aside... What's this I hear? Dr. Dre is designing a pair of headphones? Let me guess.. They'll be made of hemp and only play songs from "Mothership Connection"... So it looks like Donda West's plastic surgeon is off the hook. And, he gets to write a tell-all book which will make him millions! Whatta werld!.. "Headlines.. here's your HEADLINES!" Buy 50 cent condoMs? WoooOOOHHHHHH.. Oh? Buy 50 cent's overpriced condoms - DAMN! LOL!.. This is great! Lynsey Lohan is going to be working in a morgue as part of her community service. Finally, a captive audience :D.. Say it ain't so! NKOTB are reunItinG :S The mother of all ShitShows is back in motion. Isn't that the eighth sign of the apocolyPse? "...And five pink horsies will sashay across the globe..." LMFAO... Weiland and STP - back together on the same stage. *Sings* "And I feel that time's a wasted go, so where ya going to tommorrow? And I see that these are lies to come. Would you even care?"... *Sings* "Bye bye love. Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness -- I think I'm-a gonna cry-y. Goodbye my love goodbye."

EDITORIAL: I never have been a political man. I never understood the divide between the progressive and the conservative; the liberals and the democrats. It all just sounds like rhetoric to me, "Look at us, we're the good guys because we're 'blank' (insert catchphrase here).

But.

The release of Radiohead's new album has made my mind wander into that awfully murky/political headspace that only the cigar smoking, golf playing, port swilling, financial section of the paper reading, small talking sect enjoy ;) And, I've gotta say that my mind doesn't enjoy it, "It's forty below and I don't give a... LOL!"

So, here it is. Radiohead release the latest copy of their album ONLINE. Fans can download it and pay whatever price they wish. And... Out come the detractors. "The quality of the songs are too inferior." "Such and such (corporate) artist strongly disagrees with Radiohead's tactics because 'insert bullshit distraction here'." "Blah blah blah... corporate agenda... blah blah..." And now Radiohead's stunt is over - the album will be available in stores and through traditional means only.

So, here's where it gets just a little political. This so called "publicity stunt" has probably made Radiohead one of if not the most popular artist of late '07. Their music has probably reached more people than any other artist of last year. Their supporting tour will probably break personal attendance records as well. So...

Where's the copycats at?

Just sayin'.
LOL!
Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. HANSON WORKS WITH TOM'S SHOES TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR POVERTY AND AIDS IN AFRICA: The charitable organization, Tom's Shoes, provides footware to needy third world children. Hanson walks through miles of snow to... well I'm not sure really but it got us talking didn't it :D Check: http://www.tomsshoes.com/

2. CELEBRITY SIGNED KITES AUCTIONED OFF FOR AFGHANI CHARITY: Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Daniel Craig are among the stars who, in conjunction with the new 'Kite Runner' movie signed, you guessed it... shoes. JK!

3. RADIOHEAD'S 'IN RAINBOWS' NO LONGER DOWNLOADABLE: You can still get the album but by traditional means only. Turns out the music isn't that great after all - LOL! Just joking :D

4. GWEN STEFANI SCHOLARSHIP FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES: The super star singer has donated the proceeds from her latest Cali concert to students who have been affected by the last October's tragedy. Fires are no joking matter :S

5. DO YOU CARE?: Never satisfied just simply cow tipping with his corporate hip hop fraternity brothers, Akon has taken to fan tossing. LOL! Check it on YouTube.. It's true... Jay-Z = Def Jam no longer. Oh NO! What's he agonna do? Out to tha hizzo, of a job to tha BIzza... So, what's this I hear? A graphic novel based on the Wu Tang? Very cool.. But, super powers? Well, they did make their own credibility disappear.. huH??? And in further news.. Two over-rated beatches are knocked up and another has just lost 19/20ths of her future inheritance. Yup. Baby Spears and Lilly Allen are about to excercise their right to populate the world with idiots and Paris' grandad just made her about 20 times less popular proving that there is a God and that s/he has a sense of humour...

5. Do You Care?: So, we've distilled tabloid music news down to Britney, Amy and Kanye. All other entertainers can hence forth f@#k oFf! But. We will need to know every bowel movement, every little tad of info about the plastic surgeons, bank administrators and former publicists, and every rumour that couldn't possibly be true about the above "trifacta of trash."

THEMUSICALREVOLUTION.COM THIS MONTH: Check this out: This month we enjoyed the same record numbers as last month. The amount of traffic that we've had this last two months has been almost equivalent to the previous 6 months! While this has been great promotion for yours truly, especially considering that I performed my first show in two years on Nov. 7, in the future I hope that to get more group representation on the site. The changes that you will see over the next while are designed to do just that. All comments/suggestions are WELL appreciated: matty@themusicalrevolution.com OR comment on any entry in Free Speech: TheMusicalRevolution.com - http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog

EDITORIAL: So, one day this month I awoke to a realization; that I am in fact the worst procrastinator on the planet. Ok, so I'm sure that many of you could challenge me on that but when it comes to launching the next version of TheMusicalRevolution, you've got to admit that I'm really trying to earn that honour.

So, upon realizing my folly, what did I decide? I decided that it was finally time to launch... something. What I've put up is ONE page --> WooooHHHHH.... LOL!

www.MUSREV.com

But. This one page is THE start that I need. From this start, I will slowly add the parts that will make up TheMusicalRevolution future, and the great part is, is that my procrastination may just benefit the whole project.

Using this bare bones skeleton, if I can get feedback from you the users, then maybe I can have a site that will truly benefit YOU the listeners and YOU the creators! This being said, my first mission this month is to find a way to get that two way communication rolling. Then, I should be off to the races! Together, you and I can build TheMusicalRevolution.com, one page at a time.
Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. MySpace ROCK FOR DARFUR A SECOND TIME: November 10/07. Where ever the bands play. Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, the Academy Is, Hot Hot Heat, etc... All proceeds from these bands concerts this day will go to the war torn region. BE THERE? What? It already happened? Damn! And I was really looking forward to seeing Etc... play :D

2. YouTube.ca: This is only really big news to Canadians but... Bacon anyone? Maple Syrup???
http://www.youtube.ca/

3. MADONNA USES BLOG TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR PLIGHT OF ORPHANS IN MALAWAI: Yeah. What I just said :)
http://www.madonna.com/

4. STARS UPSET ABOUT RADIOHEAD'S RECENT ALBUM RELEASE: Lilly Allen thinks that they're arrogant for releasing an album where the fans get to decide what they will pay. Liam Gallagher thinks that the idea is just plain bad. I think that they're all just pissed off 'cause I thought of it FIRST! JK. LOL!

5. DO YOU CARE?: Xtina IS pregOH, Brit ISN't and Amy Winehouse is a freakin' joke. The irony of it all is that freak # 3 is the only one that's relevant or really all that talented. So we continue down that road to musical legitimacy past... MJ's gonna keep Neverland! Maybe as a summer home for the Aguilara and Spears kids in 4 years :O... And Britney ran a red light, and Amy canceled her tour to mourn the anal virginity of her bf and Kanye wiped his ass with Brand X toilet paper after signing an exclusive deal with Brand Y... Man this month has been lame for tabloid news. But. That's a good thing isn't it? :D

THEMUSICALREVOLUTION.COM THIS MONTH: Big RevoWelcome to our newest member, Em: Check this out: This past month has been the busiest on record for TheMusicalRevolution; better than double our total hits for last month and almost 2500 brand new visitors from almost 70 different countries. Part of the reason is that October is a slow month. Part of it is the great MySpace and Facebook traffic we've been enjoying. But. A great deal of it has been the presence of basement musicians 'The GP's'. I'd like to personally thank the boys for letting us debut their first three singles from their forthcoming album, 'Fight For Fame'. For more on the boys check our Oct. newsletter: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/monthly_newsletters/index.html and join us in encouraging them to start up their own MySpace page so we can hear more of their music.

EDITORIAL:

http://www.garageband.com/user/i220

As you all are now painfully aware, I'm sure, I've been pimping the new song, 'Measures' by Toronto M.C. feat. (which was produced by yours truly, a.k.a. i220) alot as of late. Well, now I've gone and entered it online at GarageBand.com for review and appreciation.

The schtick of GB is that artists/bands can submit their music for listening and review. Music lovers/other artists review the songs/pieces and the best reviewed get a chance at a record deal.

Now, I'm sure that you can see as many flaws in this idea(l) as I can, but the fact remains that quite a bit of the feedback (that not being delivered by sulking idiots who can't understand why they aren't the next BIG thing yet ;) is very helpful. Even more inspiring is that quite a lot of the music is really good and actually 'alternative'. Now, where there's a rating system there's corruption but, this site is just enough under the radar that I think their charts have far more legitimacy than the ones published by the big dogs!

So...

Check it! Do it! We have:
And.
Listen to the radio again, knowing that the songs being played were actually ones chosen by YOU :D
Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. NOTHING TO REPORT: Yeah - you read it right. I'm sure that musicians did things of consequence this past month. I'm sure that someone, somewhere reported on it. But, aside from Paris backing out of going to Rwanda and Radiohead's album release going from revolutionary to mediocre to publicity stunt, I haven't heard a thing :S Have you?

2. DO YOU CARE?: Man, even the joke news is weak this month. Diddy gettin' sued again? I'ma going to call him PMart from now on... Ok. Let the shitshow begin. Kanye and Jacko are about to throw down "ON WAX"! I can hear the acceptance speech now. "I'd like to thank little Timmy for voting for us. And little Jenny, Little Marie and Little... Well, this kinda changes shit up a bit doesn't it? Apparently, Pac's bodyguard was a federali. Man, do I feel safe now :S... Courtney 'cash-in' Love is planning yet another Kurt Cobain appreciation thingy which I refuse to promote 'cause I think that she's a money grubbin'.. wait a minute.. I just did promote it?.. Damn! LOL!... And finally the BIG news! Aqua is BACK biTches! That's right. Drink it in. I can sense the excitement!

EDITORIAL:

This month is dedicated to that (not so) rare breed of musician, the one who creates music simply for the love of it. Basement recording duo, 'The GP's' have decided to grace the web pages of the Revolution with a sneak peak at 3 brand new songs; recorded this past summer.

Over the next 31 days, we will be featuring the afore-mentioned tunes (with accompanying pics) on Myspace MUSREV - LINK EXPIRED - Look for album release. Hope for GP's MySpace

For a pic, check: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=213451580&albumId=0

It is my personal belief that the future of music is defined by those who create music in uninhibited creative settings. Lets give the GP's some love and attention. Comment at either site or on Free Speech: TheMusicalRevolution - http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog

Here is some info about the artists and their upcoming collection of tunes.

The GP's, Toronto/Thunder Bay, Canada.
Genre: Rock & Roll
Band Members:
Tom Grinnell - Lead Vocals, Backup Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar
Will Perry - Lead Vocals, Backup Vocals, Bass Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Production

Upcoming Album - Fight For Fame

Songs:
1. Find a Girl (And Rock Her World)
2. Games of Love
3. There Was a Time (I'd Hoped She'd Be All Mine)

Bio (in the bands words):

The GP's spent their summer nights at a small tool shed in the woods of Northern Ontario recording and writing songs for their own personal pleasure. Equipped with what the GP's called a "device" to record with, and a few guitars, cousins Tom Grinnell and Will Perry recorded their back-to-roots rock & roll songs. Any friend of either band member has heard these songs a thousand times. Whether it be at a get together on Saturday night, or a long car ride somewhere, the GP's hit song Find a Girl was a sure bet for the MP3 Player. The cousins spent every summer together since a young age, but only started musically collaborating about two years ago. The result of this summer's recording session included three hit songs.

While recording, Tom and Will's relationship can be compared to that of Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis (one of Tom's musical influences). But when the finished product is out there both musicians get along extremely well and are satisfied with their working partnership.

Will, who resides in Thunder Bay Ontario, had prior formal musical instruction before starting out his personal musical progression on the bass guitar when he was in high school. From the bass, with his formal training as a musical basis, he struggled through self-teaching himself piano/electric keyboard, guitar, and is currently working on the violin. He has varying influences to his musical taste, including a strong rock background, with hints of various genres, from softer, classical and jazz music to heavier, progressive metal acts seeping into his music; He is also influenced by largely unknown and unclassifiable acts, such as, The Potato Eaters. He is a student currently, and simply wants to express his philosophical ideas and life experiences in a spiritually and artistically satisfying form, which music is to him.

Tom, who resides in Toronto taught himself the guitar by learning AC/DC and Rolling Stones riffs on a used $50 Yamaha electric 6 string. Thus far Tom has been the GP's main song writer, and has written songs that return to the good old days of Rock & Roll. Musical influences include Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Beatles, Bon Scott of AC/DC and the Rolling Stones. Tom's musical philosophy is an attitude of just having fun, telling some stories, and if you write a good record then great!

The GP's plan to work on some new material this Fall at Will's studio in Thunder Bay.

Welcome to TheMusicalRevolution boys.
Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. BONO RECEIVES LIBERTY MEDAL FOR EFFORTS IN AFRICA: One might think that the U2 singer was the ONLY musician trying his best to make the world a better place. Maybe he's just the only one shameless enough to boast of his efforts at the top of his voice? Either way, the partially knighted one has received yet another award for fighting poverty and AIDS in Africa. Bravo!

2. PARIS PLEDGES TO VISIT RWANDA: I HATE to give this useless bitch any press but she couldn't have chosen a more worthy cause as a platform to try and get herself back in the public's good books. Bravo squared.

3. JENA 6 - A CONCERT AGAINST INTERRACIAL VIOLENCE: Nick Cannon, Baby Boy, Twista, Sean P, Hurricane Chris and other HUGE hip hop names played on September 29 in Birmingham, Alabama. The event was inspired by recent incidents involving violence between African-American and white students. Kanye and 50 sent flowers :D

4. TRENT REZNOR WANTS AUSTRALIANS TO STEAL HIS MUSIC: At a recent concert "down under", the Nine Inch Nails star urged the audience to stop paying so much for his music and just download it. Story to come: Trent Reznor and Interscope/Universal Records Part Ways :)

5. DO YOU CARE?: OK. Before I start my rant, please, someone try this link:

If you get something other than a time out on your browser, please let me know - mattyy@themusicalrevolution.com
It means that the BBC have locked me out :S LMFAO!!! Banned from the BBC! So, in more interesting news... Zach De La Roche has gone solo! Now I don't know, but I thought he did so right after Rage first broke up??? Apparently, according to today's press, he's been working on a solo album SINCE then. *raises eyebrows* Are we sure about that?.. Remember when Lollapalooza used to break new artists. Remember Pearl Jam, Tool, RATM, all cutting their teeth and cementing their names on those infamous tours of the 90's? Well, now it appears they just throw a bunch of alumni, pop stars and has-beens together like everybody else. Proving.. even Perry Farrell will join the zombie throngs for the right $ amt... Meg White sex tape anyone? Is it really her? C'mon! Who else could be thaat pasty, well, other than yours truly? OK, who else could be so pasty and NOT hairy?.. Beastie Boys - run out of ideas MUCH? Turns out that the follow up to their latest instrumental album will be the same album only with.. words - oooohhhh....... The album after that will be all remixes of their old hits with alternative lyrics stolen from Mother Goose and The Brothers Grimm... It's a poor artist who blames his label, or at least that's how I think the old adage goes. 50 Cent is pointing the finger at Interscope for the fact that his latest offering was second to Kanye West's "Graduation". Man, this is like cola wars all over again. Dood! Pepsi will never beat out Coke, no matter how much they both rot your teeth!.. And in conclusion.. The latest EmpTV video awards :S The same old shitty stars. The same old lip synching. The same old trailer trash r&r feuding. Hey, I'm all for mindless entertainment - just switch it up PUHLEASE!!! Out.

MUSIC NEWS:

1. YOU AND LINKIN PARK CAN HELP HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Calling all LP fans. Wanna meet the boys and help rebuild the US Gulf coast? Check: http://hollywoodforhabitat.com/
Pretty Damn good for a corporate eh :D?

2. LIL' KIM'S CHARITY BASKETBALL GAME: New Jersey. Dec. 1st. Kimmy's lookin' to raise awareness and educate minorities about health issues affecting their communities. All proceeds go to Lil' Kim - JK!

3. GIRLFRENZY - CONCERT FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH: Save tha titties! LOL! Avril Lavigne, Fiona Apple and Sheryl Crow are all set to perform in Irvine, California on October 27th for this first annual event.

4. JIMMY PAGE HELPS BRING MUSIC PIRATE DOWN: Everybody loves a pirate ;) But, this guy ain't got an eyepatch, hook and sidekick named Polly. Robert Langley, 58, pimps shoddy bootleg CDs/DVDs to unsuspectin' youth. And our local cape wearin' guitar hero has just testified in court to bring this musical Lex Luthor to JUSTICE :)

5. DO YOU CARE?: WOAH! Alright conspiracy theorists, let's get those pencils out ;) It would seem that Mr. Eddie Vedder of the rabble-rousing rawk group, Pearl Jam, is spouting the "C" word --> "Censorship" you dirty dirty minded people :P At a recent performance, the singer spewed anti Bush sentiments and is claiming that AT&T cut them out of the web cast. OooooooohhH.... 'Cause we all hang our hats on what Eddie Vedder says! "Please Mr. Vedder, tell me what to think next." Jeremy good. Society baaaad. LOL!.. Hold onto your hats! A hip hop supergroup is in the making! Lupe Fiasco, Pharell Williams and Kanye West are about to bust shit DOWN!!! OK? "Supergroup?" I'll give them "BetterThanOKgroup" or even "AboveParGroup" but? Super? Mele Mel, Chuck D and Michael Franti - bulletproof, these three - bulletretardant?.. YES! That Foxy Brown has been exposed for what she IS; an abusive faker that we should all REJECT! Of all the amazing brown female rappers (Mc Lyte anyone?) that have walked this planet of ours, why does the news continue to focus on the tabloidtrash ones? Just sayin'... And it is even George Bush's fault that Lily Allen can't sell a concert ticket in the US. His fault that I have plaque. His fault that my ears hurt. C'mon people! Dude's Satan, not Bono!.. LOL! ?WHAT? Dr. Dre is SUING Death Row? I thought Dr. Dre WAS Death Row. Still, kinda prophetic though??? HUH??? Man sues FORMER self? See the irony? OK, maybe I am just that much of a geek :D... Madonna - say it ain't so! Say you haven't sold that musical beacon of hope, Maverick Records, to Warner. Is this the end of the "fake independent record label puppeted by a major" era? What will Sub Pop ever do?.. And finally. I'd like to dedicate this edition of DO YOU CARE? to the Teen Choice Awards. An award show where none of the promoted artists are actually teens, there is absolutely no "choice" and hey, if you wanna call a huge fake surfboard and massive loss of credibility an "award" then you really are a glass is half full (of beer and secret drugs that make you brilliant, indestructable and supersexified) kinda cat aren't you. MEOW.

http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/works_in_progress/index.html
Come see what all the fuss is about! TheMusicalRevolution.com has seen it's most traffic in over a year. Almost 2000 hits in one day! 51 downloads of the song 'Measures' in just 5 short days. Not to mention, another 100 plays on MySpace.com/MUSREV in the same time period. 'sNo American Idol numbers but... that's good isn't it? :D

EDITORIAL:

The word of the month is "MUSREV".

MusRev - short for MusicalRevolution. MySpace.com/MUSREV. Even MusRev.com works, but, so far it can only get you to the same old lonely site: TheMusicalRevolution.com main page... :S LOL!

It will mean more in the future - I promise.
Just as soon as I get through this boring PHP/MySql book (Boo-urns).
Just as soon as I finish the "Red Hawt Mama" project - yes it's back in the works and almost finitO!
Just as soon as a certain boy wizard's latest and final book is finished :D Damn these pop culture addictions.

Meanwhile, check into some free music:

'Airplane' (Demo) by The Populars - The band is just about to release it's label debut produced by Canadian Supasta Moe Berg. Check out a demo that didn't make the cut but turned some heads none-the-less.

'Fiddlehead Turns' (Demo) by The Populars - The label didn't even consider this - my fave track ;)
Sexy pics and MORE.

Meanwhile...

MUSIC NEWS:

1. EMINEM SUES APPLE: Over 70 of the 'great white hype's' songs are available for download on iTunes. Only problem is, is that they forgot to get his Marshallness' permission. Oops.

2. KORN ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE: Biodiesel tourbusses, driving hybrid cars and Korntastic the Korn approved/newly developed biofuel - Talk about looking out for your own kind. Get it? Ethanol is made from corn... Yeh, corny I know. Check: http://www.korntastic.com

3. WILLIE NELSON HELPS FIRE UP BIODIESEL PLANT: The country legend was on hand in Salem, Oregon to champion it's new biofuel facility. I'm sure he still fired up a different kind of plant in celebration though. ;)

4. WARNER MUSIC NOT TAKING OVER EMI: This move proves to be bad for those who want less selection of music but better Warner stock value. For the rest of us...

5. DO YOU CARE?: So... It would seem that The Game's anti-gay comments are enough to get him banned from the BBC but not enough to get his music pulled. Hmnnnn, He's a shitty interview so no loss there but, his music sells so let's keep that. It's all about doing the right thing I see... James Blunt's songwriting has recently come into question. Seems that he may have had a co-writer on his last album who has not been credited. Maybe he wasn't "beautiful" enough?.. Lance Bass is about to star in the broadway production of "Hairspray". Hmnn.. I got nothing! That's a joke only The Game can get away with... Van Halen, David Lee Roth - back together. That's right, you heard it here 624th folks!.. Recently, George Michael was charged 130,000 pounds for an encore. And this one was on stage at Wembley, not in a bathroom in L.A... I guess it's time I LEFT. Gotta HAND it to me... :D

Lots of controversy. People in favour. People who think that it is redundant. Those who think it is a genuine "good" thing. Those who see it as a political ploy.
MOST IMPORTANT - What do you think???

MUSIC NEWS:

1. MARTINA MCBRIDE HELPS YWCA NASHVILLE: Jason Michael Carroll, Kevin Sharp, Kyle Wyley, Chris Young, Martina and other artists banded together at an auction to help raise over one hundred thousand dollars for the charity.

2. ABOVE AND BEYOND/ULTRA RECORDS HELP FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING WITH NEW ALBUM AND TOUR: For every flight the superstar trance trio take on their upcoming tour, the equivelent dollar amount will be donated to http://www.carbonfund.org

3. VOICES AGAINST POVERTY CONCERT AT THIS YEARS G8 SUMMIT: Bono, Bob Geldof, Youssou N'Dour and a host of international musicians came together in Rostock, Germany to urge the world's leaders to increase assistance to Africa.

4. PRINCE GIVES AWAY NEW ALBUM WITH SUNDAY NEWSPAPER: The Daily Mail (U.K.) gave away 'Planet Earth' (by the artist formerly known as) with it's Sunday Paper this past month. This was the first place fans could get their hands on the new cd and retailers have been very critical.

5. DRM FREE MUSIC COMES AT A PRICE: iTunes has dropped it's digital rights management software on most EMI songs, but if you purchase these songs, Apple imbeds your personal information (id/email address) in the track. This move has been cited as a way to discourage peer to peer file sharing.

6. GREEN DAY T-SHIRT FOR DARFUR: The punk rockers have designed a limited edition tee with all proceeds going to Amnesty International; available July 12 at Hard Rock Cafe.

7. DO YOU CARE?: Brian Warner a.k.a. Marilyn Manson has been spouting off this past month. Apparently he isn't too impressed about "rip off artists (para.)" My Chemical Romance. So far, Mr. Vincent Furnier a.k.a. Alice Cooper has not been asked his opinion on the matter... Paris sentenced to jail time. Paris in jail. Paris on The View. Paris on Larry King. Paris Free. Paris a changed woman. F#@K PARIS HILTON! BeeatcH! LOL!.. I never thought I'd be happy to hear about a Spice Girls reunion. At least now we can suffer 5 talentless hoes in the news rather than just one. A variety of trash per se... Lilly Allen, just this past month has been arrested on allegations of assault. And the four people in the world who actually care are too busy reading Paris' autobiography to have noticed... The poor old BBC has had to apologize for racist comments made by Iggy Pop. I mean, because any man who mutilates himself on stage is bound to be taken oh so seriously by the Pakistani intelligencia :D.. Weezer have NOT split. Repeat - not SPLIT. Front man, Rivers Cuomo's head on the other hand is getting so dangerously large it may just.. C'mon, the man's name is RIVERS! I think that is pretentious for "ego like mountain"... Motley Crue has sued it's manager??? Apparently, he was the one who advised them to put the two dots over the "o" and "u" in their name... Finally my dream has been realized. 1323 guitarists in Nashville got together to simultaneously jam the riff to 'Smoke on the Water'; breaking a world record. In a similar story, 420 school kids got together to all run their nails down a chalkboard in Kentucky. No record was broken but don't you think that the world spends entirely too much energy on useful endeavours these days?.. And on that note...

THEMUSICALREVOLUTION.COM THIS MONTH: Big RevoWelcome to our newest member: Greg. Check this out: All is quiet on the revolution front. I'm currently struggling with three projects, all that may be of some interest to you. 1. I'm in the process of relaunching my solo acoustic career but as per usual, this Toronto nut is pretty hard to crack. Still, expect news about upcoming shows sooner than later. 2. TheMusicalRevolution.com II is very much in the works. I've had to take a step back to research database possibilities (which is about as exciting as it sounds - trust me) but expect a summer launch :) 3. "The Populars". My brother's (all Canadian) rock band are in full studio flight and this has been an unbelievable learning opportunity for yours truly. Check out their website/myspace for song demos produced by your very own Mattyy. Also expect a full force studio album from the guys produced by none other than (Pursuit of Happiness') Moe Berg. Quiet but exciting none-the-less. http://thepopulars.com/ - http://www.myspace.com/thepopulars

EDITORIAL:

So there's this dude named "Ralphige". Apparently, nobody knows who this cat is. He's been to jail for stalking, harassing and placing obscene phone calls. What he does is prank call celebs (Jerky Boys style). He then proceeds to probe and push said famous person's buttons. Later, he posts the conversations on his website. http://www.ralphige.com/ So far, he's hit Jay-Z and Paris Hilton among others. He claims to have numbers for Lenny Kravitz, Robin Thicke, Bobby Valentino, Reverend Run, Shaggy and then some.

No doubt, you already know all this information and more.

Why would someone want to do this you may ask? The man himself claims that it is all in the name of investigative journalism. He enjoys, [and I quote] "...exposing the real them." By remaining anomynous, he DOES sidestep the "personal fame" charge that practically every other journalist seems guilty of. But. His (pseudonym) name is still out there and people are lionizing him at least a little.

I have a few questions for you. Where does he get those "very" private phone numbers from? When is he going to call someone who is actually very famous and respected? Doesn't it seem a little suspicious that as his "false" name gets shine so does the names of those "celebrities" that he calls?

Even though I believe that trash talking B rate celebrities is not a bad thing; they get the limelight they so desire/we get to laugh at their pathetic cries for attention. I think that I'm just getting BORED with it all. Mindless reality TV, ragmags and this staged dufus "Ralph-whige" character are all bottom feeders of the worst variety - not because they feed off of other folk's celebrity but because those celebrities aren't real in the first place.

I'd like to think that even the most easily amused of us just watch because there's little alternative. Someone once told me, "You will never go hungry by underestimating the intelligence of the public at large. (para.)" Well, I feel that this "clown" is giving it his best shot.

And...

I just gave him a little more promotion - so what am I?
Whaddayou think?

Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. NEW RAZORLIGHT SONG ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE: The single, 'Funeral Blues' was recorded in London's only solar powered studio in support of The Big Ask, Friends of the Earth climate campaign which looks to encourage a change in climate law. Check: http://www.foe.co.uk for free download (2 weeks only).

2. IS YOUR MOBILE PHONE THE NEW MUSIC HUB?: As the cell phone scrambles to catch up with the iPod; wireless technology, internet accessibility and universality may just put it over the top. 32 portable phones are sold every second. The sharing/easy purchasing power of these units seems endless. One idea which is gaining momentum is that of a satellite which will contain every song ever recorded. If you want ANY tune and your mobile is "hooked up", it could very soon just be a click away.

3. U2 SINGER WINS LIBERTY MEDAL: Mr. Paul Hewson, a.k.a. Bono and his organization DATA are about to be honoured by the National Constitution Center in the US. for their work in the fight against AIDS and poverty in Africa.

4. 'HEY YOU' - MADONNA SINGLE FOR LIVE EARTH: The proceeds from the song (which will only be available for download) will go to Alliance For Climate Protection.

5. PAUL McCARTNEY FINALLY EMBRACES THE INTERNET: EMI has recently announced that all of Sir Paul's solo music will soon be available for download. In addition, The former Beatle/Wings frontman has debuted his newest video, 'Dance Tonight' on YouTube.

6. DO YOU CARE?: Alright - something I care about but maybe you don't. Simon & Garfunkle have reunited for one rare DC concert. The whole affair featured two VERY wealthy men taking an evening of their time to honour themselves and maybe just give their relentless fans (who put them where they are and have waited with bated breath ever since) one more glimpse of their genius. Table scraps never tasted so good... Portishead may also be back for their first gig in 10 years. But. Trippin' and Hoppin' never gets you anywhere fast... Apparently, Ms. Spears knows the price of your loyalty. One nude (but teasing) pic of herself on her site and a less than heartfelt apology should ensure great sales of her next album!.. O.K. Michael Jackson IS satan! He just bought up the rights to a few Eminem, Shakira, Beck and Bjork tunes, to add to the Beatles songs he already owns. He's like a vampire trying to suck his way back into being a real human being... Big conspiracy theory. The NYPD have been spying on rappers such as Diddy and Jay-Z. Oh, they publically stated that they were? Ahh.. do I have egg on my face - LOL!. WHY?.. Surprise! Syd Barrett did have a will and something to leave behind after all. It seems that his brothers and sisters will all have to fight over the RKB estate (a room in his mom's house in Camebridge) but they will also have to all chip in to pay off some shady character named "Bucket" who sells vicodin on the corner of Charles St. and Vicar Ln... All of this controvery over whether the world needs a "Live Earth" rock concert or not is pretty much as good a reason to vomit as any. I'm just wondering if Sir Bob Geldolf is feeling just a little overshadowed in his "I'm the savior of the world" role. Apparently, Roger Daltry views the concerts as a complete waste of time. What the world really needs is another "The Who" reunion tour - that'll fix everything ;).. The Chinese have decided to let Xtina into the country. If that isn't proof of third world corruption, then I don't know what is!.. The BBC has banned a song from it's rotation that has been proved to be an actual advertisement for a haircare product (BBC Radio 1 doesn't allow advertising). But, it all seems a little redundant since 99% of radio music is advertising for crappy major labels and their political agendas anyhow. Try to get a song about how we shouldn't spend all of our money as fast as possible on the radio today and you'll see.. YOU'LL SEE.. HaHaHaHaHAHAHAHAHAHA...

EDITORIAL:

Ladies and Gentlemen...

Introducing the little known indie band: The Crimea
Recently dropped from Warner Music after 1 album. Latest album, 'Secrets Of The Witching Hour' is available for FREE on the world wide web at the above address.

Now, this once corporate band is being heralded as originators of the new music industry. The fact the the band have chosen to 'give away' it's latest musical offering (in it's entirity) is being lauded as "revolutionary".

Sound familiar?

"My suggestion? Start your own label and fuck the man - LOL!" TMR, Nov.06
"To the internet... There is real, unique, artistic music being created and recorded on a daily/hourly basis!" TMR, Sept.06
"FREE MUSIC: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/i220.php" TMR, Apr.05 (and every monthly newsletter since)

The band looks to increase it's fanbase and attendance at shows with this move. AND. Since it's label was pocketing ALL of the money from earlier record sales, I doubt that they'll miss the $0.00 :)

Wow! There was something to that "Wizard of Oz" story :)
Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. NEW ARTISTS FEATURED ON JOOST/REHEARSALS.COM: The website that has featured the likes of Michael Buble, Macy Gray and Tom Petty working on new material has now reserved online space for emerging/unsigned artists. Check: http://web.rehearsals.com/emerging/ or http://www.rehearsals.com/givin/

2. WINNER OF INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SCOTT LEGER: The Austin, Texas native has beat out 15,000 other songwriters with his song 'Maybe Tonight, Maybe Tomorrow'. Scott fronts the band Wideawake who have independently moved more than 40,000 copies of their last two albums. http://www.myspace.com/wideawake

3. EMI SCRAPS DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE ON MOST OF IT'S iTUNES: The fourth largest U.S. record label and Apple have come to an agreement. Much of the company's catalogue will be available DRM free meaning that the purchaser will be able to share EMI songs without restriction. The Beatles catalogue has sadly not been included.

4. HYPERNOVA - IRANIAN ROCKBAND BLAZING TRAILS: The Middle Eastern group recently visited the US and appeared on MTV news. The band spoke of a flourishing underground music scene in a country (Iran) that fines, arrests and even publically flogs rock musicians.

5. TICKETMASTER SUING eBAY SUBSIDIARY STUPHUB: The event ticketing juggernaught is claiming that S.H. is coercing promoters/artist representatives to sell tickets through them. The defendent intends to fight the allegations.

6. GREEN DAY A CHARITABLE BAND: Billy Joe's (singer/guitarist) recent work with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans and the band's recent release of a cover of John Lennon's 'Working Class Hero’ in support of the people of Darfur have kept the band very busy as of late. Diaries of Billy and his wife's work with habitat are at: http://www.greenday.net and the new tune will be available on iTunes.

7. DO YOU CARE?: Oh the scandal! Kieth Richards snorted the ashes of the Rolling Stones.. Or was it the ashes of today's music industry?. Or was it.. JUST.. A.. JOKE?.. LOL!.. Straight from jail to more fame than she ever had prior - L'il Kim is writing a BOOK :P Can't wait to see that on the "Important Newspaper's" Best Seller's List... Some Swedish couple named their sweet baby girl, Metallica :S Wait. I can predict her life right now. She will start out with little talent. But, when she finally gets rid of her inner showoff wank, she will gain some serious credibility. Then, after hitting an artistic high, her dealings with the record industry will kill her inner, deep down genius. With a new sense of purpose she will sell her soul to the highest bidder. That move will prove unfullfilling and she will eventually become old, bitter and twisted. She will finally lash out at those who loved her from the beginning, thus ending any hope of reconcilliation with a brighter past.. Maybe?.. Julian Lennon has sold a significant share of his stock in his Dad's publishing. What did he get? A record deal :S Bad example of recycling - I'm sorry... Avril Lavigne is BACK and.. She's become a virtual character on Stardoll.com, a virtual life site for teens and tweens. Don't worry, she hasn't forsaken her regular role as a virtual musician/songwriter in today's virtual music industry :D.. Hey! They finally found George W's accomplice in the Jam Master Jay murder, proving, that you only have a 5 year window to milk money out of the government after you commit a heinous crime for them - LOL!.. No more Gorillaz :( Mr. Damon Albarn is killing off the cartoon band. Apparently he hasn't decided whether he will drop an anvil on them, drive them off of a cliff or blow them up with a bomb that he purchased from ACME... So, the Lennon 'Imagine' piano is on tour. WOW! Virtual Rockstars. Cartoon breakups. I guess that the instruments are finally taking things into their own hands. Tickets for the piano's appearances start at 5 grand... The "Tap" are reuniting folks! They will play the "Live Earth" concert at Wembley armed with a 15 minute Rob Reiner 'mock'umentary explaining their latest prolonged absence. Expect the amps to only go up to 10.5, David's girl to now fit him like a flesh mumu and to be wowed by special guest stars Mr. Burns and Smithers... And that's a Tap!
