Nov.10/07 Mattyy's weekly update.
So this past Wednesday was my first solo acoustic gig since I finished my Cross Canada tour in the summer of '05. Wow has it been that long? I guess that buying a house and getting married ARE priorities :D
The beginning of the week was spent getting ready for the gig. For some reason, I was quite nervous about this. Me? Yeah, I know, I'm never nervous, but when it's been that long you just wanna know if you still have "it". I sound checked all of my gear (some brand new) and tried to approximate some settings for that club so that I didn't look amateur setting up. I also practiced the hard parts of the 40 songs that I was planning to perform. Plus,I had two new songs to prepare, 'Ring of Fire' by Johnny Cash and 'The Thunder Rolls' by Garth - considering I was playing a country bar, I figured I should beef up that part of my set.
The gig went well(ish) :S for a recap check: HERE
Then the rest of the week has been spent tracking ghost guitars for my new album, practicing backup vocals for a new cover band that I'm joining and fretting over the fact that the weather has been too shait to put the finishing touches on the roof of my studio that I'm building in my back yard. Maybe next week ;)
Next Week: Looking to try and book some more acoustic gigs, continue to work on the ghost guitar tracks for the album and get cracking on the damn studio - where else am I going to record those drums??? LOL!
Love.

Julie Andrews Turns 69
To commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist, Julie
Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall
for the benefit of the AARP.
One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favorite Things" from
the legendary movie "Sound Of Music".
Here are the lyrics she used:
Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cadillacs and cataracts ,and hearing aids and glasses, Poli dent and
Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.
Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pains, confused brains, and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.
When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.
(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted
over four minutes and repeated encores!
