This Year's Song - 'Ghostbusters' by: Ray Parker Jr.
If there's something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call - Ghostbusters.
If there's something weird and it don't look good, who you gonna call - Ghostbusters.
I ain't afraid of no ghost.
If you're seeing things running through your head, who can you call - Ghostbusters.
An invisible man sleeping in your bed, oh, who you gonna call - Ghostbusters.
I ain't afraid of no ghost.
If you're all alone, pick up the phone, and call - Ghostbusters.
I ain't afraid of no ghost, I hear it likes the girls.
If you've had a dose of a freaky ghost maybe you'd better call - Ghostbusters.
Let me tell you something, bustin' makes me feel good!
I ain't afraid of no ghost. Don't get caught alone, oh no!
When it comes through your door, unless you just want some more, I think you better call - Ghostbusters.

EDITORIAL:
This month is dedicated to that (not so) rare breed of musician, the one who creates music simply for the love of it. Basement recording duo, 'The GP's' have decided to grace the web pages of the Revolution with a sneak peak at 3 brand new songs; recorded this past summer.
Over the next 31 days, we will be featuring the afore-mentioned tunes (with accompanying pics) on Myspace MUSREV - LINK EXPIRED - Look for album release. Hope for GP's MySpace
For a pic, check: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=213451580&albumId=0
It is my personal belief that the future of music is defined by those who create music in uninhibited creative settings. Lets give the GP's some love and attention. Comment at either site or on Free Speech: TheMusicalRevolution - http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog

Bio (in the bands words):
The GP's spent their summer nights at a small tool shed in the woods of Northern Ontario recording and writing songs for their own personal pleasure. Equipped with what the GP's called a "device" to record with, and a few guitars, cousins Tom Grinnell and Will Perry recorded their back-to-roots rock & roll songs. Any friend of either band member has heard these songs a thousand times. Whether it be at a get together on Saturday night, or a long car ride somewhere, the GP's hit song Find a Girl was a sure bet for the MP3 Player. The cousins spent every summer together since a young age, but only started musically collaborating about two years ago. The result of this summer's recording session included three hit songs.
While recording, Tom and Will's relationship can be compared to that of Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis (one of Tom's musical influences). But when the finished product is out there both musicians get along extremely well and are satisfied with their working partnership.
Will, who resides in Thunder Bay Ontario, had prior formal musical instruction before starting out his personal musical progression on the bass guitar when he was in high school. From the bass, with his formal training as a musical basis, he struggled through self-teaching himself piano/electric keyboard, guitar, and is currently working on the violin. He has varying influences to his musical taste, including a strong rock background, with hints of various genres, from softer, classical and jazz music to heavier, progressive metal acts seeping into his music; He is also influenced by largely unknown and unclassifiable acts, such as, The Potato Eaters. He is a student currently, and simply wants to express his philosophical ideas and life experiences in a spiritually and artistically satisfying form, which music is to him.
Tom, who resides in Toronto taught himself the guitar by learning AC/DC and Rolling Stones riffs on a used $50 Yamaha electric 6 string. Thus far Tom has been the GP's main song writer, and has written songs that return to the good old days of Rock & Roll. Musical influences include Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Beatles, Bon Scott of AC/DC and the Rolling Stones. Tom's musical philosophy is an attitude of just having fun, telling some stories, and if you write a good record then great!
The GP's plan to work on some new material this Fall at Will's studio in Thunder Bay.
Welcome to TheMusicalRevolution boys.
Love,
Mattyy
MUSIC NEWS:
1. BONO RECEIVES LIBERTY MEDAL FOR EFFORTS IN AFRICA: One might think that the U2 singer was the ONLY musician trying his best to make the world a better place. Maybe he's just the only one shameless enough to boast of his efforts at the top of his voice? Either way, the partially knighted one has received yet another award for fighting poverty and AIDS in Africa. Bravo!
2. PARIS PLEDGES TO VISIT RWANDA: I HATE to give this useless bitch any press but she couldn't have chosen a more worthy cause as a platform to try and get herself back in the public's good books. Bravo squared.
3. JENA 6 - A CONCERT AGAINST INTERRACIAL VIOLENCE: Nick Cannon, Baby Boy, Twista, Sean P, Hurricane Chris and other HUGE hip hop names played on September 29 in Birmingham, Alabama. The event was inspired by recent incidents involving violence between African-American and white students. Kanye and 50 sent flowers :D
4. TRENT REZNOR WANTS AUSTRALIANS TO STEAL HIS MUSIC: At a recent concert "down under", the Nine Inch Nails star urged the audience to stop paying so much for his music and just download it. Story to come: Trent Reznor and Interscope/Universal Records Part Ways :)

It means that the BBC have locked me out :S LMFAO!!! Banned from the BBC! So, in more interesting news... Zach De La Roche has gone solo! Now I don't know, but I thought he did so right after Rage first broke up??? Apparently, according to today's press, he's been working on a solo album SINCE then. *raises eyebrows* Are we sure about that?.. Remember when Lollapalooza used to break new artists. Remember Pearl Jam, Tool, RATM, all cutting their teeth and cementing their names on those infamous tours of the 90's? Well, now it appears they just throw a bunch of alumni, pop stars and has-beens together like everybody else. Proving.. even Perry Farrell will join the zombie throngs for the right $ amt... Meg White sex tape anyone? Is it really her? C'mon! Who else could be thaat pasty, well, other than yours truly? OK, who else could be so pasty and NOT hairy?.. Beastie Boys - run out of ideas MUCH? Turns out that the follow up to their latest instrumental album will be the same album only with.. words - oooohhhh....... The album after that will be all remixes of their old hits with alternative lyrics stolen from Mother Goose and The Brothers Grimm... It's a poor artist who blames his label, or at least that's how I think the old adage goes. 50 Cent is pointing the finger at Interscope for the fact that his latest offering was second to Kanye West's "Graduation". Man, this is like cola wars all over again. Dood! Pepsi will never beat out Coke, no matter how much they both rot your teeth!.. And in conclusion.. The latest EmpTV video awards :S The same old shitty stars. The same old lip synching. The same old trailer trash r&r feuding. Hey, I'm all for mindless entertainment - just switch it up PUHLEASE!!! Out.
*Collected from a variety of online NEWS sources and summed up here for your enjoyment/enlightenment.*

Please contribute to better music. YOUR music.
