SOCAN's Second Annual Echo Songwriting Prize
Canada: 5 Anglophone and 5 Francophone artists (independent) have been nominated. We, the public can listen and vote at:
The winning songwriter(s) will receive a $5,000 CDN cash prize.

SOCAN is proud to announce the launch of the second annual ECHO Songwriting Prize and the Prix de la chanson ÉCHO, which highlight and celebrate the songwriting talents of some of the best independent, up-and-coming Anglophone and Francophone songwriters in Canada.
What it is: The Echo Songwriting Prize is designed to put the spotlight on some of this country?s up-and-coming songwriters who might not otherwise receive recognition for their work at this point in their careers. It?s also a unique opportunity for SOCAN to introduce itself to future members. Our members are of the utmost importance to us and we continually look to new initiatives to enhance the services we offer them.
How it works: Two independent panels each made up of ten (10) of the nation's top music community tastemakers, representing various regions of the country and musical genres, nominated a total of 30 songs related to each prize. Once the nomination process was complete, the panelists reviewed each of the nominated songs and, using a point-value system, determined the top five French and English songs to be voted on by the public. The public is then able to listen to the songs and vote for their favourite at www.echoprize.ca

A hip hop supergroup is in the making! Lupe Fiasco, Pharell Williams and Kanye West are about to bust shit DOWN!!! OK? "Supergroup?" I'll give them "BetterThanOKgroup" or even "AboveParGroup" but? Super? Mele Mel, Chuck D and Michael Franti - bulletproof, these three - bulletretardant?.. YES! That Foxy Brown has been exposed for what she IS; an abusive faker that we should all REJECT! Of all the amazing brown female rappers (Mc Lyte anyone?) that have walked this planet of ours, why does the news continue to focus on the tabloidtrash ones? Just sayin'...
