EDITORIAL:

Ladies and Gentlemen...

Introducing the little known indie band: The Crimea
Recently dropped from Warner Music after 1 album. Latest album, 'Secrets Of The Witching Hour' is available for FREE on the world wide web at the above address.

Now, this once corporate band is being heralded as originators of the new music industry. The fact the the band have chosen to 'give away' it's latest musical offering (in it's entirity) is being lauded as "revolutionary".

Sound familiar?

"My suggestion? Start your own label and fuck the man - LOL!" TMR, Nov.06
"To the internet... There is real, unique, artistic music being created and recorded on a daily/hourly basis!" TMR, Sept.06
"FREE MUSIC: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/i220.php" TMR, Apr.05 (and every monthly newsletter since)

The band looks to increase it's fanbase and attendance at shows with this move. AND. Since it's label was pocketing ALL of the money from earlier record sales, I doubt that they'll miss the $0.00 :)

Wow! There was something to that "Wizard of Oz" story :)
Love,
Mattyy

MUSIC NEWS:

1. NEW ARTISTS FEATURED ON JOOST/REHEARSALS.COM: The website that has featured the likes of Michael Buble, Macy Gray and Tom Petty working on new material has now reserved online space for emerging/unsigned artists. Check: http://web.rehearsals.com/emerging/ or http://www.rehearsals.com/givin/

2. WINNER OF INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION - SCOTT LEGER: The Austin, Texas native has beat out 15,000 other songwriters with his song 'Maybe Tonight, Maybe Tomorrow'. Scott fronts the band Wideawake who have independently moved more than 40,000 copies of their last two albums. http://www.myspace.com/wideawake

3. EMI SCRAPS DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE ON MOST OF IT'S iTUNES: The fourth largest U.S. record label and Apple have come to an agreement. Much of the company's catalogue will be available DRM free meaning that the purchaser will be able to share EMI songs without restriction. The Beatles catalogue has sadly not been included.

4. HYPERNOVA - IRANIAN ROCKBAND BLAZING TRAILS: The Middle Eastern group recently visited the US and appeared on MTV news. The band spoke of a flourishing underground music scene in a country (Iran) that fines, arrests and even publically flogs rock musicians.

5. TICKETMASTER SUING eBAY SUBSIDIARY STUPHUB: The event ticketing juggernaught is claiming that S.H. is coercing promoters/artist representatives to sell tickets through them. The defendent intends to fight the allegations.

6. GREEN DAY A CHARITABLE BAND: Billy Joe's (singer/guitarist) recent work with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans and the band's recent release of a cover of John Lennon's 'Working Class Hero’ in support of the people of Darfur have kept the band very busy as of late. Diaries of Billy and his wife's work with habitat are at: http://www.greenday.net and the new tune will be available on iTunes.

7. DO YOU CARE?: Oh the scandal! Kieth Richards snorted the ashes of the Rolling Stones.. Or was it the ashes of today's music industry?. Or was it.. JUST.. A.. JOKE?.. LOL!.. Straight from jail to more fame than she ever had prior - L'il Kim is writing a BOOK :P Can't wait to see that on the "Important Newspaper's" Best Seller's List... Some Swedish couple named their sweet baby girl, Metallica :S Wait. I can predict her life right now. She will start out with little talent. But, when she finally gets rid of her inner showoff wank, she will gain some serious credibility. Then, after hitting an artistic high, her dealings with the record industry will kill her inner, deep down genius. With a new sense of purpose she will sell her soul to the highest bidder. That move will prove unfullfilling and she will eventually become old, bitter and twisted. She will finally lash out at those who loved her from the beginning, thus ending any hope of reconcilliation with a brighter past.. Maybe?.. Julian Lennon has sold a significant share of his stock in his Dad's publishing. What did he get? A record deal :S Bad example of recycling - I'm sorry... Avril Lavigne is BACK and.. She's become a virtual character on Stardoll.com, a virtual life site for teens and tweens. Don't worry, she hasn't forsaken her regular role as a virtual musician/songwriter in today's virtual music industry :D.. Hey! They finally found George W's accomplice in the Jam Master Jay murder, proving, that you only have a 5 year window to milk money out of the government after you commit a heinous crime for them - LOL!.. No more Gorillaz :( Mr. Damon Albarn is killing off the cartoon band. Apparently he hasn't decided whether he will drop an anvil on them, drive them off of a cliff or blow them up with a bomb that he purchased from ACME... So, the Lennon 'Imagine' piano is on tour. WOW! Virtual Rockstars. Cartoon breakups. I guess that the instruments are finally taking things into their own hands. Tickets for the piano's appearances start at 5 grand... The "Tap" are reuniting folks! They will play the "Live Earth" concert at Wembley armed with a 15 minute Rob Reiner 'mock'umentary explaining their latest prolonged absence. Expect the amps to only go up to 10.5, David's girl to now fit him like a flesh mumu and to be wowed by special guest stars Mr. Burns and Smithers... And that's a Tap!
