A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Announcement
While this is a terrible loss for new music in Canada, it is important to recognize the contribution that this venue, it's staff and most importantly it's patrons did make.

THANK YOU for making our music better.

How do you feel about the closing of venues that support new/independent music? Is a change necessary? Do you care?

Closing of venues, while sad, is important for change. As many clubs get older, the establishment in that club outstay their welcome. The music they bring in is often the music that they've always brought in rather than brand new music. It is important that clubs support these older independent bands, but the focus should always be what is new and relevent. Hopefully a new and relevent club will replace the Sidetrack Cafe in Edmonton - it would be truly sad if the new/independent music scene were to fade out there. But. That is highly doubtful anyway.
Big Love.

Dark Hour

It's that beast that arises in us,
Sizes us up to the competition,
Waits for the position and time,
To strike.

We fight it -
All the while ignite it,
But today, it's a difficult venture.
What's not to went?
Your like.

At home with us,
Lonely but distracted.
Does it seem too late to act?
Red and forlorn,
Worn psyche.

Embittered with sweet,
Our feet swim in litter neat.
Little people who we don't know,
All climbing their steeples to catch the crumbs that we throw,
Over the dike.

As we watch,
Pretend that we didn't botch.
Mend nothing no more,
Sore and disappointed,
Anointed but ready to hike.

It never needs to be.
Free.
