Poetry by Cara: Bent but not Broken

She was strong like a fortress
Fragile as glass but would not break
The evil ones hurled her into oblivion, in the hopes that she would never recover
The shove into the abyss bent her beyond recognition
But they didn't know the power she posessed
In her typical metamorphic fashion, she came out of the nothingness ever more radiant
She shined brightly, with sunshine in her smile.A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Freestyle, Song Lyric or Poem
Their plot had failed them.
Only those who threw the dagger in her heart would never again be the same.
You see, what they didn't know...
Although she may be bent
She'll never be broken.

Poetry by Xylopixie: Inner Labia

I am more (much more!)
than the sum of my parts
You can list them clinically
1-2-3-4
I am more than
What you take me for
I am more than
A heavenly body
More than just a number
More than a name
I am passion
Aggression
Fantastic revelation
I am the Chameleon of creativity
A kaleidoscope of moods
I am Mother Nature (incarnate)
I am Eve ( innocence lost)
I am Lilith ( temptress)A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Freestyle, Song Lyric or Poem
I am not your mother! (grow up)
I dare you
I dare you
Try me
1-2-3-4
My baby blues are mirrors
What do you see in the dark?

Angel's "Back in tha Daze" - The Red Rocker

A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Back in tha Day Tale
Back in 1980, some friends and I went to see "the red rocker", Sammy Hagar. I love Sammy Hagar. I feel he is one of the best guitarists ever. I saw him with Van Halen in 1986, but this (earlier) "red rocker" show was outta sight.

The crowd was jacked and it was a happenin' night. The show started and out came Sammy on the stage in a '68 Chevy convertible. The car
was bright red and so was Sammy; red hair flying and a red jumpsuit.

He started the show by playing "I Can't Drive 55" sittin' in the car. Man, we all went crazy. The joint was jumpin' - one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Sammy's been through some changes in his career, but he'll always be one of my favorites in concert. I thought he really gave Van Halen some class when he was playing with them. David Lee Roth was ok, but Sammy, he da man.
Angel of rock.

For some reason, folx are downloading the CCC version of "Big Yellow Taxi" like crazy. If you wanna find out what the fuss is, check: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/ccc.php but I warn you, it's likely that it's Joni Mitchell's amazing songwriting that's attracting the curiosity, not the performance :P

EDITORIAL: The Gramaphone "Business" Awards

With regards to this years Grammy Music Awards held Feb.8/06:

I don't know when exactly it happened. I suppose everybody will have an opinion and most likely that opinion will be based on when it was that they themselves became disillusioned with popular music rather than the truth. But, my question is: When did the Grammies cease to be about music AT ALL?

I think we, collectively need to do a little research. We need to tap into the facts. Compared to past years:
1. How many (televised) winning artists were there total? Go way back for this one.
2. How many record labels were represented on this year's show?
3. How many of the winning acts were at the top of billboard for the previous year?
4. How much $ did the live performers make?
5. How does the winning of a Grammy affect each artist FISCALLY?

How far does it go until the Grammy's don't matter at all? Is it there already? It's almost like watching a live wire act where the performer is on a 3 foot wide wire, 2 feet from the ground with her/his manager, agent, lawyer and entire promotions company holding his/her hand. WHO CARES?

Why am I so heated? Well, there was a time when only a select handful of musicians with the help of a few rich patrons could scratch a living. That was about (say) a hundred years ago. As soon as music became relevent and accountable, then promoters were able to help music become a legitimate job option. Take away accountability and relevence and you have nothing.

The music industry is selling itself out! Why? $? Power? Rich cats afraid of the influence of accountable/relevent musicians; not the Bob Geldolf/Bono type business/musicians who appeal to common tax payers to ante up. But, the Bob Marleys, the John Lennon's, the Sly Stone's who personify musical genius, challenge the world corporate structure and walk out of fake award shows to make a statement when the mediocre talent (ahem... Ellykay Larksoncay) are just happy to be there. FUCK THAT! It's our show! Deserve to be there! Deserve to demonstrate when it's bogus!

In November, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame invited the Sex Pistols to join them in their self glorification. It took the boys 'til February to tell them to piss off (on the Pistols' own website no less)! In the words of Lyndon and the boys, "Next to the Sex Pistols, rock and roll and that Hall of Fame is a piss stain. Your museum, urine in wine. We're not coming. Fame at $25,000 if we paid for a table, or $15,000 to squeak up in the gallery, goes to a nonprofit organization selling us a load of old famous. Congradulations. If you voted for us, hope you noted your reasons. Your anonymous as judges, but your still music industry people. We're not coming. Your not paying attention." (Fuck spellcheck). http://www.thefilthandthefury.co.uk/

Take the music back.
Mad Love,
i220

MUSIC NEWS:

1. CAMPAIGN TO CLARIFY TV MIMING IN BRITAIN: G.B.'s musicians union is pressuring broadcasters to flash a logo on screen to signify that acts are miming their performances. The idea is already in practice on BBC2's "Culture Show".

2. SELLING iPOD COMPLETE WITH TUNES ILLEGAL IN U.S.: The Recording Industry Association of America, the organization responsible for thousands of lawsuits, is starting to consider a new type of copyright infringement. iPod sellers are finding that their hardware is considerably more valueable if music is included but the RIAA are saying that this practice is just as illegal as selling off a DVD containing your entire music collection. For those looking to sell in the future it is suggested that you empty your player first.

3. JENNIFER LOPEZ HELPING TO RECRUIT BONE MARROW DONORS: The singer/actress is looking to the hispanic community to help 29 year old Janet Ovalles. The single mother has blood cancer and is fighting for her life. So far a match has not been found among family or those registered and due to a lack of hispanic bone marrow donors, Janet's outlook remains bleak. For more information, check: http://www.dkms.de/asp/english/

4. ROLLING STONES PLAY FOR OVER 1,000,000 PEOPLE IN BRAZIL: Last month the aging rockers played one of the largest shows ever at Copacabana Beach in Rio De Janeiro. Fans started lining up days in advance for the concert which was part of the internationally renowned "Carnival" festival.

5. WHO CARES? - Did you see Destiny's Child at the Superbowl? I think they sang too... Superbowl! Dee-troit! Motown! Ste..vii..e Won.., uhm, no - The Rolling Stones? Ball Dropped. Cue the players... Better take Britney's baby away from her. She didn't strap him into a car seat. Never mind his father's an out of work dancer and mom's a corporate whore... Scott Stapp and Kid Rock have been caught on a tape performing lewd acts with.. hold your breath.. women. C'MON! This is NEWS? Please tell me the ladies had horse torsoes or were dead and nobody noticed or something?.. Kanye West is NOT addicted to porn. Unless the flick stars Kid Cock and Scott Staff of "Debbie Does.." fame... Finally! Michael Jackson's Katrina song may be finished. Expect an end of Feb./beginning of March release. So, March comes in like a lamb and goes out crying like a 10 year old boy with his pants down? C'mon! You were all thinking it.
