Poetry by Cara: Euphoria

Giddy like a school girl, but jaded as a stoic..
Depressed..
But on the other hand I am truly elated.
It seems no matter what spectrum of emotions I entertain..
that there's always a flipside and mirror image of that feeling..
this is the burden that I currently bear..
I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders and this has been a conscious decision..
Dealing with the complexities of my own mind can be gruesome enough just within itself..
I love you, I swear I do..
But do I always have to play your saviour?!?!
As you hang me on my own personal cross and mock what my entire life is dedicated to????
Don't you know that I've loved you in all my time..
But you continue to disappoint me..
(On a side note, its a shame that this fucked up poem doesn't rhyme..)
I hang my head in disbelief..wondering why I even attempted to make you all in my own image in the first place.
Why did I bother? Why do I still care? Why do I hurt for you people?
I guess I just thought I could save you..I still would if I could..I promise.
But yet, a promise is just a sugar coated lie.
No matter how much I love you, no matter how hard I try..
None of you are the people I once loved..A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Freestyle, Song Lyric or Poem
So, I really can't be your saviour if I don't know who you are.
So maybe it's just myself I'm here to save..
It'll definitely be a first..
It should be easy enough..
I'll start that odyssey today...

Musician Jokes

Here's a few musician jokes to cast off our "Musical Funnies" Category (graffik pending - honest). If I've left anyone out or if you have a musical joke to put out there, lemme kno: weblog@themusicalrevolution.com

A drummer/percussionist walks into a library and says: "Hi I'll have a burger, fries, and a large coke." The librarian responds: Sshhhh....do you know where you are? This is a library!" The drummer, sheepishly, and in a whisper says: "Sorry....I'll have a burger, fries and a large coke."

One night at a gig the band leader yells at the bass guitar player "Your out of tune! Fix it!" The bass player pulls on all of the strings and says "The tension is the same on all of the strings...it must be in tune." and the guitar player yells at him "You idiot. The pegs have to be all lined up!"

Q: What do you call a guitarist who breaks up with his girlfriend?
A: Homeless ..

Q: How do you know when there's a singer at your door?
A: Can't find the key- doesn't know when to come in!

Q: What do you have when a keyboard player is buried up to his neck in sand?
A: Not enough sand.

Q: How do you get a DJ off of your front porch?
A:Pay for the pizza.

Q: How many horn players does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Just one, but they'll spend two hours checking the bulb for alignment and leaks.

String players' motto: "It's better to be sharp than out of tune."

Q: What's the difference between a conductor and a sack of fertilizer?
A: The sack.

Poetry by Cara: All Hail the Queen

Your _expression screams that the joke is on me.
I've had enough of whoever it is that you've become.
A walking contradiction..A TheMusicalRevolution.Com Freestyle, Song Lyric or Poem
Strolling through your life in an ever intoxicated daze..
Have you no shame?
Looking earnestly into my eyes and lying to me
I'll fall to the floor and gawk in amazement
I suppose it's the least I can do..
bow down to the queen

THEMUSICALREVOLUTION.COM THIS MONTH: This month we'd like to send out big love to Amrit and Lena and welcome Nepal to tha fold. 69 Countries and counting. The "NewMusicalRevolution" Update: Data processing begun. This past month has seen i220 theorizin' about why shareware for pop culture may just make sense. Chek: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/weblog/conspiracy_theories/index.html
The new version of "Gold Dust Woman" by Corporate Cash Cow... has seen a record number of downloads in Jan. Chek: http://www.themusicalrevolution.com/ccc.php
Expect an update on the "Anarkitties" Album (12 song demos near completed) next month and the "Red Hawt Mama" is on the cusp too... Woooohh!

EDITORIAL: Alright! So here it is. A bunch 'o U.S. deejays have formed a collective to - get this - protest against laptop DJing. WTF? Apparently, this group feel that proper jockeys should be spinning and hopefully on tables using vinyl. They claim that watching someone fronting a portable computer is in some way inferior.

O.K. Forget about, "Second verse, same as the first." How about 86th verse or something equally as outlandish. It seems like every time someone changes it up (to which the general public respond positively), there are a group of "dumbasses" (yeah, I said it :) who try to sway popular opinion by claiming some sort of proper knowlege and better sense of taste. LOL!! The art music snobs hate jazz, the jazz snobs hate rock and roll, the R&R snobs hate rap/hiphop (which I'll never understand) and now the deejays are hatin' on the new school computer jockeys???

To be honest with you, it is this writer's opinion that the real division depends upon if you have something new/relevent to say. Maybe these "older school" DJs are just rehashing old well proven formulas? If the cats behind the hardware have something a'ight and different then, I'm there!

Oh, in the grander scheme of things, I must admit that I'm a "live" guy. If you can spin Mp3s, play the guitar, trumpet all while conducting an orchestra - I'm in! But you better have something to say that "I" haven't heard or else why should I bother? It is "art" after all.

Suite Love,
i220

MUSIC NEWS:

1. QUEEN LATIFAH - FIRST HIPHOPPER TO GET HOLLYWOOD STAR: In 2003, Dana's performance in the movie musical "Chicago" garnered her an Oscar nomination. Her third album, "Black Reign" won her a Grammy. Now she has a "sweet spot" of her own right on Hollywood Boulevard.

2. NINTENDO REINVENT GAMING WITH MUSIC: The new Nintendo DS game, "Electroplankton" is dubbed by it's creator as, "not a game at all (para)." Mr. Iwai describes it as "...the future of interactive music... a means for people to see sound." By manipulating different plankton with the hand ("Electroplankton is playable only on the dual-screen, touch-sensitive DS), clapping or blowing at them (using the built in microphone) the user can create different note patterns. The colour of the plankton determines the instrument.

3. 2005 RECORD YEAR FOR DIGITAL MUSIC SALES: Nielsen reports that more than 352 million digital tracks were sold last year; up 150% from 04. 20 million were sold the week after Christmas alone. Album sales jumped to 16.2 million from 5.5 million a year ago. Overall online music sales which include albums, singles, music videos, and digital tracks topped the billion dollar mark for the first time in '05.

4. WORLDWIDE RECORDED MUSIC SALES CONTINUE TO FALTER: The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has stated that despite an impressive increase in digital music sales, global music retail revenues were down 2% in 2005. The numbers have fallen 20% since 1999. The trend is expected to continue into the new year, prompting music executives to look at reasons other than illegal file sharing for the decline.

5. PRODUCT RED AND BONO: In partnership with such companies as American Express and The Gap Mr. Hewson et al are launching a special line of products. All proceeds from "Product Red" go to support AIDS relief in Africa. Chek: http://www.u2.com/news/index.php?mode=full&news_id=1876

6. BRYAN ADAMS PERFORMS AT BENEFIT IN PAKISTAN: The Canadian born singer/songwriter was the first to perform in the war torn nation since the U.S.-led campaign against terrorism began. The concert was a benefit for Zindagi Trust. The organization, founded four years ago by Pakistani pop star Shehzad Roy, pays underprivileged children (about $2/week) to go to school. For children who work, the income and the fact that classes can be scheduled around their jobs/chores is essential to their families.

7. CANADIAN RECORD LABEL OPPOSES FILE-SHARING LAWSUITS: The most recent wave of RIAA lawsuits has enraged (ironically) Nettwerk Music Group CEO Terry McBride. The record company boss has stated that legal action is not an answer but the problem itself. The admonishment was made after the industry sued Elisa Greubel's father when, over 600 songs were discovered on the hard drive of the family's computer. Among the tracks was Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi" (a Nettwerk hit). The label is picking up the legal tab for the family which in essence pits them against their own industry representitives.

8. WHO CARES? - Pink's getting married. I've got a sty on my eye... Kevin Federline has just released a single online. I've got a sty... LOL!.. No, but seriously, who gives a flying fu... Fu.. Full details in the next issue of 17... Speaking of things that will never last, some dude's given up his entire collection of Elvis memorabalia to get his girlfriend back. Apparently the "G" said, "Elvis or me." The market value for dude's King "shit" is said to be $2 Million! What's guy gonna buy? Two tickets to Graceland maybe... Kanye, Kanye, Kanye... Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. Or is it kicking a "Paula" when she's down? It seems that Kelly Clarkson has denied "American Idol" the use of her songs. But. After a few strong words from satan, uhmm,.. I mean Simon Cowell, she's decided that her soul isn't really worth fighting for... Stop the presses! Nas has signed with Jay Z and Def Jam. Start the presses again. Toilet paper's up a cent and a half from last week... Until next.
