EDITORIAL:
Numero Uno - Happy holidaze all! Whatever your family celebrates, may you find the time to come together this holiday season and sing out in joyous harmony! Ahh... the chez musical alludings. Now down to buiness.
You see there's this problem and it's called music piracy. Apparently, (very EVIL) people are downloading music to their computers "without permission". The artists who make this music aren't really suffering because they were duped out of CD profits in contracts they were duped into signing. But, wealthy people in suits are starting to find it difficult to make the payments on their mid sized islands in the Pacific Ocean so this "downloading" may just spell the end of the music industry as we know it! :S
BUT. I have an idea; one that will revolutionize the music industry while at the same time put society back 1000 years :) I've been working on software that all record labels will soon be drooling over. It's a program that will soon be installed on every CD that you and I buy. If you try and play one of these recently acquired CDs on your ROM drive, the software that I've developed will secretly install itself on your computer. It will prevent you from copying that CD or any other with my secret technology on it. The program will be extremely hard to remove. Maybe I'll offer up a free uninstaller for download from my site but this program will only further embed my secret hacker - Ha ha ha ha... *evil laugh. I'm still trying to decide if I should also employ my secret program to send ME marketing/user listener habit info over the internet. I could make a lot of money selling this information to any number of industry execs.
On further reflection, if I patent this technology, I can eventually offer it up to other industries as well. The film industry and the gaming/software industries would be a good start... TheMusicalRevolution.Com will take over the entertainment of the entire world! If I get into industrial software, I'll own everybody, Ha ha ha HA hA ha HA ha ha ha ha... ha Ha HA ha hA ha ha ha... ha...
Sounds like Science Fiction theatre doesn't it? Yeah? Read the rest of this newsletter. :(

MUSIC NEWS:
1. SONY/BMG SUED FOR VIRUSESQUE COPY PROTECTION PROGRAM(S): The State of Texas, among others are sueing the record company for selling over 2 million CDs with the anti-copying software Extended Copy Protection (XCP) and over 20 million CDs with the anti-piracy software, MediaMax. XCP installs itself so deeply on your hard drive that it is almost impossible to remove and MediaMax installs its files even if you click "no" to the user agreement. XCP is said to degrade the performance of the machine and open new security vulnerabilities. Both programs are accused of transmitting data to Sony or the software developer via internet connection for market research purposes. For it's part, Sony has recalled embedded Cds but so far, doesn't seem to be offering up any compensation for "damaged" computers.
2. SONG FOR HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF CO-WRITTEN BY SHARON STONE: The Song, "Come Together Now" featuring artists such as, Jesse McCartney, The Game, Nick Carter and JoJo is now available for download on iTunes. http://www.apple.com/itunes/
3. FRENCH RAPPERS PREDICTED CURRENT RIOTING: Famous rappers such as NTM, 113, Fonky Family and Alpha 5.20 have all penned rhymes that forshadowed this past month's civil unrest in France. Prophecies such as, "What is it, what is it you're waiting for to start the fire? / The years go by, but everything is still the same / Which makes me ask, how much longer can it last?" made 10 years ago have proven to be sadly accurate.
4. CHECHNYA FINALLY GETS ITS MUSIC FESTIVAL: A rock festival featuring, Russian bands Dead Dolphins, Night Snipers and Prezident which was postponed back in July came to fruitition in November. Some 7000 fans attended the all day event (billed as the region's first major rock concert) in Gudermes. About 3000 police were also on hand.
5. BOB GELDOLF WINS "MAN FOR PEACE" AWARD: Sir Bob was given the honour at the Nobel Peace Prize summit in Rome, Nov. 24th.
6. WHO CARES? - R. Kelly's goin' to court. I'm not sayin' that he's guilty of the 14 counts of posessing child pornography but... "Ga ga"... 50 vs. Kanye. 50 vs. Nas. 50 vs. Jadakiss. Dude, we get it - your mommy doesn't love you... Bruce Bierman claims that he isn't exploiting John Lennon by releasing material that he and the assassinated music hero worked on in the 70's. So I guess all proceeds will be going towards fighting gun crime and Bruce will be keeping his name hush hush... Uhm... too late... Xtina. Married. My advice - bitch, get the fuck knocked up and off've my TV set... Take That are getting ready for their big comeback. "Whatever they said, whatever they did, they didn't mean it." (had to look it up, honest)... Due to a serious lack of any real competition, System of a Down have scored 2 number one billboard debuts in '05 with "Hypnotize"/"Mesmerize". Stay tuned for "Capitalize" and "System of a Franchise" due out next spring/summer... Nick and Jessica are DONE! But, if you think that they are going to disappear from grocery store shelves anytime soon then I have a great vintage guitar to sell you. Mint condition... Mint!

Had my Klezmer Cherry popped this weekend. Still walking funny ;) Chekt The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band show at Lula Lounge on Sun. Actually it was more of a Jazz kinda affair with strong Klez roots. As with any "folk" music type show it had all the warmth and personality which should never be missed when we have the chance. The music communicated strongly to even little old me who doesn't have a Jewish bone in my body. I thouroughly enjoyed it and recommend the band along with their counterpart "Medina" to anyone who digs good music.
