THEMUSICALREVOLUTION.COM THIS MONTH: This month we'd like to send out big love to Earle and Tom and welcome USSR (former) to tha fold: . 61 Countries and counting. The "NewMusicalRevolution" Update: Research/Design Phase. OK. So it's time we stopped surfing the porn here at Revolution underground (that's what I'm calling my 10x10 basement living space :P ). The computer went down. I had to reformat my hard drive and start over. I'll be surprised if this newsletter gets out at all - ah the panic :S
EDITORIAL:
Primary objective: HAPPY SECOND ANNIVERSARY ALL! Two years together - the hilights are many - I could talk all day - who am I kidding? The whole thing has been a blur. Trying to keep up with the world of music (business) in these times is as easy as playing a Mozart Sonata that you haven't practiced in front of a thousand screaming Gwar fans. Huh? It's f#@kin' hard! So what do I have this month to honour this occasion? Free T-Shirts? 40% off've "TheMusicalRevolution.Com" monogrammed vibrators? No - we don't sell those Colonel! How about a list? The top 10 songs of all time and the Top 5 artists.
Ladies and Gentlemen - the "World’s Top Ten Songs":
1. We Are The Champions - Queen
2. Toxic - Britney Spears
3. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
4. Hotel California - The Eagles
5. La Tortura - Shakira
6. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
7. Yesterday - The Beatles
8. One - U2
9. Imagine - John Lennon
10. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
And the "World’s Favourite Artists":
1. Queen
2. Britney Spears
3. Michael Jackson
4. The Eagles
5. Nirvana
Who says? Apparently over 700,000 people in 66 different countries (seems a propos since our viewership just topped 60 countries) according to Sony Ericsson. The (North American) publication in which I found these lists seemed to be quite put back. The absence of Elvis, the original charting of the #1 song, the prevelence of present pop are all sighted as reasons why this list is skewed. My opinion? It is what it is and it is definitely timely if not timeless. The list would be different next year, I'm sure of it. But, I do want to leave you with this one thought. Who, outside of the southern US really cares about Elvis anyway - LOL!! "I get so lonely I could die."
Most Importantly - what do you think? Click HERE.
Mad Love,

MUSIC NEWS:
1. HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF - PRIORITY NUMBER ONE WITH MUSICIANS: The music news this month has been dominated by this terrible disaster. Late August/early September, Hurricane Katrina devistated the US city of New Orleans and left countless dead, injured and/or homeless in it's wake. The music world has stepped up on all counts. We have spoken out and acted as a conscience. We have given. We have urged others to give. Numerous benefit concerts have been held. For those who wish to find out more and perhaps help out check these organizations:

https://volunteer.united-e-way.org/hurricane-katrina/donate/
http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/
http://www.usafreedomcorps.gov/
2. APPLE CO. VS. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY: Apple boss Steve Jobs wants itunes to continue to sell its songs for 99 cents a piece. The industry wants to vary the prices of songs, charging more for hotter songs and less for older/less popular tunes. I want my music for free. Can't we all just get along?
3. YOUTH PREFER INTERNET TO RADIO AS SOURCE OF MUSIC: A Yahoo!/OMD Worldwide study of 13-24 year olds in 11 countries has found that the youth market more often looks to the internet rather than the radio for it's music fix. In the U.S., the numbers are 47% vs. 27% in favour of the internet while the numbers are 60% internet to 20% radio outside of the U.S.
4. WHO CARES? - Kanye West says that President Bush doesn't care about black people. I say he doesn't care about poor people... M.J. has reportedly penned a song to benefit Katrina victims. Can we say ass kissin' time?!.. Finally, Britney has given birth. Sean Preston better enjoy his youth before his life becomes one big 'ol redneck tabloid feature... "Queen Plus Paul Rogers"? Is that the name of a band or a legal business merger?.. Lil' Kim is goin' to JAIL! And it's NOT for prostitution... Ho... Attention KMart Shoppers! 3 Songs that (Nirvana Singer) Kurt Cobain would never have dreamed of releasing are being pimped out by his estate... And INXS has found its singer. Congrats to "Rock Star's" J.D. Fortune for simultaneously realizing his dreams and destroying the credibility of a once respected rock band... If you pledged more than $100.00 to Katrina Relief, Brian Wilson may call you personally. If you only pledged $99.99, he thinks that you're a f#@kin' cheap loser!.. Beanie.. Beanie.. Beanie Sigel... Lil Jon is sueing Larry Flint! Apparently, Flint mistakenly credited Jon as "Lil' Kim" in the latest porn featuring the rapper... S'all Jokes... S'all Jokes.

Pauls Meets "Our Lady Peace"
Not so Back in tha Day...

Pauls: Well yesterday, one of my adolescent dreams came true. I finally got to meet Our Lady Peace.
The company that I work for (Fluid Concepts Group) is assisting with the production of the Future Shop/OLP promotion. On the day OLP's newest album was released, Future Shop did a special promotion. The first 500 people in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver, received a wrist band for a special OLP performance in that city.
Yesterday was the Vancouver performance. My company wasn't very involved in the Vancouver show, but I still got to go and ended up working. I was asked by our client to take some pictures during the meet & greet. So, I did get to meet the band and got my own picture.
The best part of the whole experience was when I was saying, "bye" and thanking them and Raine said, "So, we'll see you in Montréal!" much to my dismay, I don't get to go to Montreal. Someone else from the office was already slotted to go. :(
I'm sure I will have many more interesting stories to come. I'll keep you all posted!

Angel's Back in The Daze Tales
Memories From Quincy CA.
I met a really cool spearite from Quincy CA at a spearhead concert and talking with her brought back some cool memories of when I lived there in 1974.
Getting to Quincy you go up the beautiful Feather River Canyon. This canyon road is unbelievable; gorgeous rivers, mountains and trees. So me and a few of my hippie friends used to go to this really cool swimming hole where peeps swam in the nude; skinny dipping. It was so great there. People of all ages bathed in the sun and felt free; Mother's, fathers, children and grandparents.
So one time I'm just all kicked back feeling great and loving the sun. I'm just being there feeling fine and high. No one bothers you. Everyone is mellow.
So all of a sudden we hear this music by Santana and these two dudes that look just like Cheech and Chong (out of a Cheech & Chong movie) drive right up to the river in their low-rider. They're making all kinds of noise and disturbing everyone. The two dudes are going up to the women sun bathers and saying shit like "Hey mama, you got some nice titties." Everyone is irritated and feeling self-conscious. These guys are totally out of control. They come over to me and start making rude remarks.
Then, it's so funny cause these 4 hippie long haired dudes (totally naked) go over to the Cheech and Chong dudes and literally pick them up and carry them back to their car. Man, I am laughing so hard. The hippie dudes tell the dudes to either be respectful or split. Well, Cheech and his friend get pissed and flip us all off. It was just one of the funniest things that I've ever seen.
Anyway that's just one story I have from "back in my hippie daze".

Poetry by angel: HIDIN FROM THE TRUTH
drugged up, fucked up,
don't know what's going on
seems like so many people
sing this song
found out myself that
i was hiding from my pain
all the shit that happened
to me was just a big refrain
it was easy losing myself in
the smoke and flyin high
crap
didn't want to really take
the rap
for what i had done and
what had been done to me
so every morning i would
just get into my dirt grave
thought it was gonna save
me
keep your head hidden
in the covers
don't want no reality to sink in
blessed day the truth came my way
opened my eyes to a sunny sky
hadn't seen that for awhile
got a smile on my face now
been there, done that too many times
don't care if this rhymes
just gotta say
a natural high is my life now
feels so good to face the past
now i can lay it to rest
and go on with the life
i so enjoy with my eyes wide open

THEMUSICALREVOLUTION.COM THIS MONTH: This month we'd like to welcome Irene & Chris and recognize the US Military - why would the Armed Forces be interested in a MUSICAL revolution? The "NewMusicalRevolution" Update: Site in research phase.
EDITORIAL:
This month's entertainment news is f#@kin' BANANAS man! I seriously think that the (Western) werld has started to wear the furry sox and collectively dance in it's underwear like Tom Cruise in "Risky Buiness". I mean, I love the hype *devilishly smiles* but sometimes I gotta shake my head and wonder.
Did you hear that Jay Z may have come out of retirement? Do you care? I do of course but still... The Stones are also back in action and ready to tour yet another album. S'like we're stuck in a time warp. All progress has ground to a halt. We're stutterin' like a dirrty CD.
Another Jimi Hendrix biography is in the werx. What's the big selling strategy this time? Lost guitar trax? Secret previously unreleased diaries? Nah! Apparently the author is taking the "lower" road and promoting his "masterpiece" by claiming that the guitar hero pretended he was gay to get out of the military. Right now, Jamie Farr must be ripping his hair out! Give me a fuckin' break!
And finally, Wacko Jacko... Apparently a couple of the jurors in the Jackson trial have claimed that they were pressured into voting that "Mr. Moonwalk" was innocent. Even crazier - they're writing a book about their experiences. WTF??? I'm surprised someone hasn't tried to sell a semen soaked blankie (exhibit A) on EBay. Man, Michael should just change his name to "CashCow" and have it done with!
Sorry, but I'm just not sure anymore. I mean, I can justify the "fake" retirement trick. If people are willing to bite; if folx are willing to support long after your time is done then who can blame artists for cashin' in? On the other hand, Jimi Hendrix is dead. Jimi is a hero to almost every serious rock guitarist on the planet. Is it "cool" to use his sexuality to sell books? Is it ok to cash in on anyone's sexuality? Not sure as I could do that. But. Setting a person free who you are convinced is a child molester and then cashing in on that??? That is... I'm speechless (almost). Congratulations world. We officially have hit the bottom. Just when I thought we could go no lower. Let's glorify a pedofile for 6 months then just to drive the irony home, let's give his bootlickers a book deal.
Hey. This is all tongue in cheek. If I was presented with the offer, who knows... Working at the grocery store... Cashing in my soul for a cool coupla million. I just wanted to try and put it all in perspective. I mean it's all fun and games until some 9 year old boy loses his... I'm not even kidding this time. My suggestion? Let the jurors write their book. Then throw them in jail for obstruction of justice and being fuckin' wetnaps. Finally, donate all proceeds from the books to counselling efforts for abused children. Just an idea.
Big Love,
i220
NEWS:
1. HELP: A DAY IN THE LIFE - COMPILATION DISC TO HELP WAR CHILD: Radiohead, Bloc Party, Gorillaz, Razorlight and the Coral have all signed on to contribute tracks to the project. "War Child" is a nonprofit organization that helps children affected by war. For more information check: http://www.warchild.org/ The album will be available for download starting Sept. 9.
2. RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA VS. SINGLE MOTHER OF 5: Thousands of people have settled out of court for illegally uploading copyrighted songs. Patricia Sanangelo refuses to be one of them. She claims that no one at her address has downloaded music. The defense maintains that the only plausible explanation is that a third party from a wireless connection may have done the downloading from Patricia's IP address. Both parties are pressing on with the case and lawyers from both camps are predicting victory.
3. INDIE ROCK SUPPORTS UNICEF: Beck, Stevo of Sum 41, members of Sloan, the Postal Service, The Arcade Fire and a host of others are all contributing to a track called "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?". Proceeds from the track will go to UNICEF - http://www.unicef.org/
4. DR ROBERT MOOG DIES OF BRAIN CANCER: in 1970, Dr. Moog invented the "MiniMoog" (the first compact easy-to-use synthesiser). Moog passed away at his North Carolina home at the age of 71. RIP.
5. NAPSTER OR iTUNES?: It's your choice: either, both or none. But, here is the breakdown. With Napster you have to pay a monthly fee. For that fee you can download as many of their 1.5 Million(ish) songs as you want. The catch is that if you cancel your membership the songs go with it. No pay - no play. Check: http://www.napster.com/terms.html for more details. iTunes has no monthly membership fee. You pay for the songs one at a time. Unfortunately, those songs can only be played on an iPod. Furthermore, an iPod can't play "paid for" songs from any other service, but it can play Mp3s. You can find the legals at: http://www.apple.com/legal/terms/site.html
6. MEMORIAL CONCERT UNITES ARABS AND ISRAELIS: On Sunday, August 21, a hundred Palestinian, Israeli and Syrian musicians played together at a concert in the West Bank for over 700 people. The Daniel Barenboim led orchestra played in Ramallah for the first time to commemorate the life of the late Edward Said, who co-founded the West-Eastern Divan Workshop and Orchestra with Barenboim in 1999.
7. WHO CARES? - BOYCOTTED!! Too much WHO CARES in the EDITORIAL. I was gonna poke fun at Britney's right to bare arms, just "Diddy" no "P", the "Pitbull" saga, the lost Beatle's recordings, Kanye West's allegiances and Eminem's dependency on sleep medication (writes its own joke doesn't it?) BUT... NO! When I say "Who Cares?" I'm asking Who Cares? And quite frankly, it's just too hard to care this month. So, as a tribute to all of those who actually worked hard all of their lives to enrich ours without faking a retirement - For Dr. Moog, I'm letting the NEWS stand on it's own this month!
