Of course, there is a great number of estblishments in TO that "feature" independent musicians. I will continue to add to this list as time ticks on. The great thing about these places is that they actually pay the musicians for their efforts. Of course all of them feature acoustic cover music but some do have bands. To find a place that will guarantee you payment and let you play your own music with a band is almost unheard of here in tha Big. You gotta bring in your own money :S
PS. Another aside - TO is the only place in Canada where the clubs that feature acoustic music don't provide the PA??? Good luck!

man, if my man and i ever make it to toronto, we surely will want to visit all these cool lookin saloons and bars. you canadians know how to party hardy!!!!!
