The Real Mixtape: CockRawk (1986-91)!
A friend of mine recently told me that this era was a mistake. I dare him to listen to this mixtape (CD) and repeat that statement.
Magnum - On a Storyteller's Night
Extreme - Pornograffitti
Tesla - Flight To Nowhere
Warrant - April 2031
Little Angels - Don't Pray For Me
Ozzy Osbourne - Mr. Crowley
Living Colour - Go Away
Guns & Roses - Mr. Brownstone
Aerosmith - Janie's Got a Gun
Skid Row - In a Darkened Room
Some of us weren't so lucky. We weren't 17 in '92 or '68. But we did search out the best music of our times! Do YOU feel that an era is unfairly represented? Give us your mixtape. Educate us!
Of course, not one of these songs is representational of the era. But, neither are the ones that made it to video/radio? If you hate guitar solos or high falsetto male voices then this music will never be for you - just as I'm sure that Led Zepplin isn't either ;) But if you think that the era was one dimensional and had no depth then check these lyrics from said songs:
"There’s a chill wind at your back door and the fire cracks on the damp floor. You hear footsteps but you’re not sure on a storyteller’s night."
"Sex when I'm all alone it calls me on the phone. Can't stop this ringing in my ear."
"So just stop, let me off. Seems that I can't get my point across to you. I know you're listening, but I'm just not getting through.
"As far back as Vietnam we should have learned our lesson but we closed our eyes and sent our sons away"
"Don't pray for me. Don't let me go. I have lost all my dreams and now I am cold to the bone."
"Mr. Charming, did you think you were pure; Mr. Alarming, in nocturnal rapport? Uncovering things that were sacred manifest on this earth. Conceived in the eye of a secret and they scattered the afterbirth."
"I see the starving Africans on TV. I feel it has nothing to do with me. I sent my twenty dollars to Live Aid. I paid my guilty conscience to go away."
"I used to do a little but a little wouldn't do so a little got more and more. I just keep trying to get a little better. Said a little better than before."
"Honey honey, what's the problem? Tell me. It ain't right. Was it your daddy's cradle-robbin' that made you scream at night?"
"And the innocence of a child is bought and sold. In the name of the damned, the rage of the angels left silent and cold."
This IS what I was listening to at the time. Fear, exasperation, frustration, remorse, dispair, reverant curiosity, anger, being overwhelmed, empathy and giving up. These songs helped me face these feelings and turn them into positive energy. I can't say anything bad about that.

Oh, I am in no way defending this era in music. I believe that the hypocracy/irreverence of the late 80s and the apathy/hopelessness of the early 90's is greatly responsible for the musical sterility that we are suffering today at least in the mainstream; which invades our consciousnesses daily. What I am doing is trying to help alert open minds to the fact that GREAT music is being created through all eras and not just deep in the underground by underprivileged starving artists (although I do think that the majority of great music will never be herd on the mass scale). It is false to believe that any musical era can represent all that is good or evil - in my opinion of course :)
Big Love.

for sure i think that era's in music can be down right discriminated against. I love the music of Aerosmith, Guns & Roses, Tesla and Living Colour. How can you ignore heavy metal that came from acid rock of the 60's and 70's. I feel that my generation of music the 60's and 70's is now gettin a bad rap, like we are too f-----g
old to enjoy good music. man, it was happenin back then and still is. But i also think that my generation can be stuck in the mud as far as thinkin their ain't no good music these days. That's why i write on this board and on Stayhuman.org, to find out about the new and cool music and what's happenin. I always went to concerts with my kids when they were growing up so we wouldn't have a generation gap and they grew up on me taking them to my concerts.
angel of all kinds of music

Amen sister! I think it really comes down to how open your mind is. My mom is a huge metal and rock fan. My dad loves all kinds of music and we enjoyed alot of shows together as I was growing up. If more folks opened up their minds and didn't shut out any music maybe they might be able to understand each other better? Who knows?
Big Love.

SPAM - Aight, loox like I finally managed to get this anti-spam thing on track. The good news - s'posedly less strip poker linx, etc... the bad news - s'only a matter of time. I'm assured that this will only slow the spammers down right now :( I promise to try and stay on top of it all - and hopefully we can keep this positive experience.
Big Love.

15. GIVE THE MULE WHAT HE WANTS - qotsa/
16. "tracks 1 & 2" - mars volta/
LAST SONG - ish. SEEM TO RECALL - ron sexsmith/
that'll be a tight mix - there probably won't be enough room for all those songs.........the wilco song's ten minutes.......the kyuss song's 8+ minutes......the thing that should not be is over 6 minutes........the cockburn song is almost 7 minutes..........listen: i learned alongside the best mix maker in the world, THE SCOOTS.............when i go over to hang with him and make a mix, we're damn sure that we use absolutely the most seconds worth of music we can............some mixes have 26 songs, others only 16.........that's how it works........yeah!!!!! i wish i had a burner to actually make that mix.........also, let me suggest that the mix-maker use only the most recently of remastered recordings........there's nothing i hate more than changing volumes or audio settings in between songs............well, there's probably something i hate more than that, but you get the picture........why can't everything be at the same volume????? rök......E.

Hi guys. The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it. Help me! Could you help me find sites on the: Professional brochure printing. I found only this - best brochure printing. Brochure printing, most of the method's other folds were read by guides with available distribution, among whom carson provided double paper. Brochure printing, doane foundation ordered the text from the hunter battalion. :-) Thanks in advance. Porter from Austria.
