"Chameleon" by XyloPixie ©Jan. 2000
I am a chameleon
I morph
From sweetness
To scathing
To laughter to sultry
To tenderness
I cannot help myself
From changing
I am a butterfly
That is just not satisfied
With the single transformation
I am a sensualist
Feel all or feel
Nothing.

Went to the Minx show last nite at the Reverb. Again these catz were playing with Cheerleader. Again, we missed them??? WTF? ONE DAY! Did stick around for Hell's Kitchen Show. Goth metal from the late 90's is the best as I can describe it. They were toit. The lead singer had a ton of charisma! The tunes were passable - some were even quite ingenuitive. I would say that a show like this needs something to make it stand out from all the other goth/metal shows. If they find that then I think the sky's the limit! Now on to my boys/gurl - Minx. Well this wasn't the best I've seen them, I can say that. The last time I saw the "Minxshow", there was a confidence that flowed from the drums right on up. Right from the beginning this time the drummer seemed tentative. The bass cut out a few times so this could've been partly to blame (of course, ease of playing thru tech-probs is one of the best ways to show professionalism). Nicole was her usual charming self but I think that she needs to make sure she can always hear herself when playing - even if that mens being a maniacal bitch with the sound guy pre-show! Guitars seemed to be the strongest part of this show. I sensed a little uneasiness at the beginning and some tension that continued even later into the set but they were more often than not firing on all cylinders. Overall, I'd say a B- for this show in relation to the A show they put on at Reily's.
Big Love.

the poem "Chameleon" is a tribute to womanhood, i change my moods each day as much as i change my clothes, and that's what's being a female is all about!
angel of hope
